As an Aside,
A lot of people on this post are basing their commentaries on the fact that the lawyer who resisted such demeaning words of the judge was not a new wig and hence the justification.
New wig or old wig. None strips you of your dignity as a human being talk more of your status as a lawyer, gentleman and advocate that carries its own respect and value.
Being a new wig does not mean you take disrespect from people and it applies to the general public. In your respect jobs, your position does not take away your dignity.
The culture of disrespecting new wigs in the legal profession is long gone. Some of the seniors you see in courts today embarass themselves worse than even the new wigs they profile as inexperienced. Many do not even know what they are doing.
Thus, the position of a judge is not dictatorial. In the event of a lapse, resist any effort put across to you in a fit to debase you to infamy.
Resistance is beautiful but make sure you are on the side of righteousness and truth.
Kind regards.
One day in Court, the Judge said something to a Lawyer. The lawyer, in reply, said, "My Lord, that's not the language of the Court."
The moment he said it, the Courtroom went silent. It was as if an angel of death passed through the streets of mortals.
