First Kurdish department at Beijing Foreign Studies University in China, starting in Autumn 2026
Students will study the Sorani dialect during their first three years before studying Kurmanji in their fourth year, allowing graduates to develop a comprehensive understanding of the main dialects of the Kurdish language.
Kurdish students will travel to China to pursue their studies, plans are also in place to bring Chinese students studying Kurdish in Beijing to the Kurdistan Region, where they can engage with the Kurdish social and academic environment and further develop their language skills.

It includes 35 residential towers ranging from 10 to 33 floors and 350 villas (earlier announcements mentioned up to 800 villas in total). Educational facilities consist of an American kindergarten, school, and university. There will also be a hospital, a commercial mall or sector of about 40,000 square meters, a hotel, a media and arts tower, and various recreational components.
Around 70 percent of the site is designated for open and green spaces, including the planting of approximately 50,000 trees, seedlings, and roses. Infrastructure features include a sewage system with water treatment, central gas, 24-hour electricity (with significant reliance on solar power), filtered water, smart-home systems, and surveillance and security systems.
The project is expected to create more than 2,000 job opportunities, with the company aiming for about 80 percent local workforce. Residential units will be offered for sale with installment plans lasting from one to six years.
