AFCON 2027 Go UGANDA

With only 232 days to go until the historic AFCON kicks off in Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania, I was pleased to witness the signing of an official sponsorship agreement between @CAF_Online and @TourismBoardUg at the Marriott Hotel in Kampala, making the Uganda Tourism Board an official sponsor of the tournament. This is a significant moment for Uganda’s tourism sector. AFCON offers us a valuable opportunity to showcase our tourism potential to millions of football fans and attract high-value tourists. CAF Secretary General Samson Adamu informed us that the previous AFCON recorded a cumulative viewership of 3.2 billion. This partnership presents an enormous opportunity to market Uganda to a global audience and translate that visibility into increased tourist arrivals. This is exactly the kind of global marketing our tourism sector needs. Sports and tourism are natural partners. Football fans can become tourists during and after the games. With more partnerships of this kind, we can be confident of moving closer to our target of attracting five million tourists by 2030 and contributing to Uganda’s 10-fold growth strategy. Delighted to attend the Ghana–Uganda Trade and Business Forum in Accra, Ghana following the successful launch of @UG_Airlines direct Entebbe–Accra route. With Uganda and Ghana now better connected, we have an opportunity to unlock tourism potential, strengthen business linkages, expand trade and encourage greater travel between East and West Africa. Among the key opportunities discussed were the upcoming AFCON 2027, co-hosted by Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania; the Uganda Martyrs Trail, trips for Ghanaian tour operators, the forthcoming Pearl of Africa Tourism Expo (POATE) and the East African Community Expo @TourismBoardUg On behalf of Parliament @Parliament_Ug , particularly the Budget Committee, I appreciate this important step towards strengthening connectivity between our two countries.
