A special visit to @CityBrampton today as we welcomed a distinguished delegation from Portugal at the historic Alderlea House. 🇨🇦🇵🇹 We were honoured to host Dr. Pedro Nascimento Cabral, President of the Câmara Municipal de Ponta Delgada and Dr. Jaime Vieira, President of the Câmara Municipal da Ribeira Grande and other dignitaries. Brampton’s Portuguese and Azorean community has helped shape our city’s story through culture, family, entrepreneurship and community spirit. Today’s visit was an opportunity to celebrate those connections while strengthening relationships with leaders from Portugal and the Azores. Thank you to our guests for spending time in Brampton and sharing this special moment with our community.

Great news for Brampton families and cancer support in our community! Wellspring Chinguacousy provides free, compassionate support to residents and families when they need it most. Thank you to MPP Hardeep Grewal and the Ontario government for supporting Wellspring’s important work with a $475,900 grant, and to Brampton Councillors Gael Miles, Navjit Kaur Brar and Michael Palleschi for their longstanding leadership and commitment. This funding will expand trusted cancer supports across Brampton, making vital programs more accessible and closer to home.

Thank you @iPoliticsCA! This recognition belongs to Brampton residents. Your push and our shared advocacy got Ottawa and Queen's Park to listen. Together we won federal bail reform to keep repeat violent offenders off our streets, and moved lawful access forward so police can act fast on extortion. Next, we're putting more officers on our streets, investing in new safety technology, and pushing to stop stolen cars from leaving our ports. We have an economy of more than $2 trillion U.S. dollars, larger than Florida’s and a population greater than Pennsylvania, Illinois and Michigan combined. Our countries are neighbours, allies and deeply connected economic partners. We should be focused on strengthening that relationship, not putting up new barriers. The City of Brampton will continue to have a strong voice at the national level on the issues shaping community safety here at home. 👏 Regional Councillor @RoweSantos has been appointed by the Federation of Canadian Municipalities as Chair of the Standing Committee on Community Safety and Crime Prevention for the 2026-27 term. In this national leadership role, she will help advance municipal discussions on policing, crime prevention, community corrections, emergency preparedness and emergency management, bringing Brampton’s priorities and the realities of one of Canada’s fastest-growing big cities directly to the table. It was my distinct honour to join the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 15 in celebrating its 100th Anniversary along with Cllr @Keenan4Brampton @RoweSantos @medeiros_martin and @RodPower7_8 For a full century, the Legion has stood as a steadfast pillar of support for our veterans, military families, and all those who have served Canada with courage and distinction. Our message is clear: we're making Brampton and Peel Region the most inconvenient place in Canada to commit a crime. We've now successfully installed 50 state-of-the-art 360° cameras across the city, supporting more than 200 police investigations in six months since the first cameras were deployed. By working closely with Peel Regional Police and investing in innovative technology, we're taking a proactive approach to protecting our neighbourhoods, supporting law enforcement and disrupting organized crime.
