📢 📢 We could not be happier to share this wonderful news: Miguel Anaya has been awarded the 2026 Felisa Martín Bravo National Research Award for Young Researchers in Physical Sciences, Materials Science and Earth Sciences! 🥳 🙌
🏆 Today is the day!
We are thrilled to celebrate our group leader, @MAnayaLab , who will receive the Spanish National Young Research Award “Felisa Martín Bravo” in Physical, Materials and Earth Sciences!
The award ceremony will take place today in Vitoria-Gasteiz at 12:30 PM (CET) and will be presided over by His Majesty King Felipe VI.

A very special day for Miguel and the entire SMSLab team! 👏
Our own Aaron Bayles traveled to @EPFL in Lausanne, Switzerland last month to present his work on nanoparticle plasmonics at Perovskite Solar Cells and Optoelectronics ( #PSCO )
It marks his first public dissemination activity as part of his Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions #MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowship and we are looking forward to many more!
Last month, Amel Van Den Berg represented SMSLab at the #ALBAUserMeeting , where she had the opportunity to present her work on hybrid halide perovskites using GIWAXS at the BL11-NCD-SWEET beamline of the @ALBAsynchrotron
Many thanks to the organizers for making this event possible and bringing the synchrotron community together for such a fruitful scientific exchange!

Four intense days at @DiamondLightSou ! Last week, Irene, Amel and @CarmenHdg had the opportunity to carry out an intensive SAXS/WAXS experiment at beamline B21 at Diamond Light Source, studying our MOF samples.
Our main goal was to combine information from both techniques to follow particle formation and size while simultaneously assessing crystallinity, bringing together structural information across different length scales.
A special thank you to the B21 beamline scientists for their interest in our project and their continuous support. Your expertise and availability made a huge difference! Now comes the exciting part: analysing all the data and seeing what the MOFs have to tell us. 🔍
Our own Luisa Maria Valencia Liñan and Guadalupe Vega represented SMSLab at #IMC21 in Liverpool! Both had the opportunity to present their latest work, spanning electron and X-ray microscopy, and to share their results with the international microscopy community.
A fantastic few days full of exciting science, new ideas, and lots of discussions! It was also a great opportunity to exchange experiences, meet researchers working across very different microscopy techniques, and bring plenty of new ideas back to the lab. 🔬
Our Carmen is currently carrying out a research stay at @DiamondLightSou under the supervision of Barbara Gerbelli, focused on gaining an in-depth understanding of SAXS and WAXS data analysis.
It is a great opportunity to learn directly from a professional in the field and to work alongside researchers with extensive experience in synchrotron measurements. A valuable experience full of learning, new perspectives that will undoubtedly contribute to her research. 🔬 📊
We are extremely happy to welcome Irene Vigneron back to the group. Irene pursued her bachelor thesis in Physics with us in 2024-2025, obtaining the best results of her cohort. After a year at the @UnivParisSaclay (M2 Quantum, light, materials and nanoscience) 🧵
she is returning to the SMSLab thanks to a prestigious #JAEIntro@CSIC . She will start a very exciting project on the use of machine learning to understand the nanoscopic behaviour in extremely thin materials. Congrats Irene!
What a week for SMSLab! 🙌
We hosted the latest #NextPVNet meeting in Seville, bringing researchers together for two days of science and collaboration, and joined the #EuropeanResearchersNight with our Light Laboratory.
Science, outreach and community, what a success! ✨
Great to be at the #NextPVNet meeting in #Seville! ☀️
Two inspiring days bringing on next-generation organic–inorganic photovoltaics, with great discussions, new ideas and opportunities for collaboration!
Thanks to @MAnayaLab@Guada_Vega2@MonicaLiraCantu!!!
🔬✨ Join SMSLab at the European Researchers’ Night!
Discover the wonders of light through holograms, iridescent chocolate & homemade energy! 🌈⚡
📅 Sept 25 | 🕖 7–8 PM📍 Pabellón de Uruguay, Seville
We look forward to seeing you all there!
