Built Ship Smarter after walking 500+ 3PLs. Scaling fulfillment for brands doing 7-9 figs. Supply chain ops/strategy, ecom growth and some humor sprinkled in.

Indianapolis, IN
Hey, old/new algorithm. I’m Cody. I spent my carrier running fulfillment and supply chain operations for brands, where I walked the floor of over 500 3PLs in the US. Now I run Ship Smarter, an Indianapolis 3PL for ecommerce brands that need an operational growth partner. We’re ~8x larger than we were year 1 with only 4 more clients; our brands scale. I tweet about ecommerce, warehouses, family, and the stuff operators usually only say in private. Ship Smarter, not farther.

I got the high score on Box Cut Ninja, let’s go! Well done @kyle_benton, this is awesome!
Yesterday, we launched our FAKE sister brand, Ship Something Fulfillment Box 3PL. Today, we are launching our REAL Ship Something Arcade. If you love warehouses as much as I do, this is for you. Box Cutter Ninja: Fend off the delivery guy Boxley Crossing: Can you make it to the loading docks? Fast and the Forkious: A race through the warehouse (@SanjayAtPlay perfect game). Which one do you like the most? shipsomething.co/arcade

If @jacob_posel is spending his time building something, you should probably dig into it; he’s one of those “oh, he actually gets it” guys. ~3 years ago he DM’d me about a very niche supply chain question. It took 5 minutes on the phone with him to understand that he has a special kind of intelligence that is very, very scarce. Over the past 3 years, I’ve seen Jacob build his personal brand, convince thousands of you that he was an AI bot himself, go viral, and now launch this next level AI hub. Whatever Jacob’s call to action is, just do it. Trust me.
I'm incredibly excited to officially launch HQ. HQ is the shared AI context layer for your Humans, Agents, Dots, Bots and everything in between. Almost 1000 business run on HQ, including our own. The feedback has been phenomenal. Sign up now: hqforwork.com

Apparel (or any high-sku brand) receiving can be intimidating, and if it’s not done right, it’ll cause inventory and customer experience problems down the road. The process I’m outlining is the most efficient way we’ve found accurately receive inbound apparel shipments.

You can go straight from the dock to a “green” cone location but we’re maximizing two things here: 1. Get that container empty ASAP 2. Get that inventory into pickable bins ASAP

Something different is in the air this morning, this will be my most efficient day I’ve ever had in the office. It’s a bad day to be an item on my to-do list

Subscription brands investing in retention are winning. Brands broadening marketing presence beyond paid Meta ads are winning. If I’m looking to scale outside of new product launches, I’m looking to find a way to get subscriptions ASAP. I’m NOT looking to go global right now.

Well, it looks like we’re doubling our space. Again. Really soon. That means Ship Smarter is opening up room for a few more growth-focused brands that want more than a fulfillment vendor. We do partnerships; not the transactional you sell, I ship. Brands that want ideas, margin protection, operational insight, and a partner who takes extreme ownership over their part in the customer experience. We’re a great fit for apparel, cosmetics, toys/games, and supplements brands - especially those with subscription models that need consistent customer experiences. If your brand has big goals and needs a 3PL that actually thinks with you, let’s talk.

Revenue is loud, regret is quiet. Some thoughts on what the past few years of owning a business has taught me about life👇 Grind culture is awesome, I’ve seen people win 100x what they thought possible by grinding harder and iterating faster. But…

My team is everything; they’re incredible. They’ve adapted to change, the understand why I obsess over the details I obsess over, and they’re bought into doing what needs done. They’ve allowed me to introduce balance to my life I was afraid to introduce.

The goal isn’t being the perfect husband, dad, business owner. The goal isn’t perfect balance every day. The goal is just being honest and knowing where to give that extra 20% that day. Revenue is loud. Regret is quiet. Build accordingly.
