Definitely an important milestone in my career. Honored to have given an oral presentation as faculty role at #ACC24 about ML-Driven analysis of ParoxAF subtypes. So much grateful for my mentor @nmarrouche who pushes us to reach our best potential. Grateful for my team 1/2

New DEEP-PFA RCT: for EP-led PFA sedation, flurbiprofen + midazolam/fentanyl achieved 83.8% effective sedation with 7.5% hypoxemia and 6.2% hypotension—a practical efficacy/safety balance. Great to collaborate with Drs. Song Zuo, Changsheng Ma & team from An Zhen Hospital.

One strip a week, make long term AF monitoring easier and less burden to patients. Great work from @YingshuoL and the team! #SevereSinus #BenignSinus @TulaneTriad @Tulane_Heart @TulaneMedicine @MassadChristian @BidaouiGhassan @YishiJia @SinusAtria

AF episodes can hide warnings in ECG strips within -+3 days of the episode - could support acting before the fact

New lesson from DECAAF II led by @YingshuoL : SR near AF is not the same as SR without no AF—like the body after exercise, the ECG may look “at rest” while physiology still carries a recovery signature. A weekly strip may flag a missed episode for a week. ovid.com/jnls/circep/fulltex…

#ResistTheUrge to ablate more

Proud of our TRIAD fellow Michel Abou Khalil @mabou_khalil for this important work in JCE! In nearly 19,000 patients undergoing first ablation for paroxysmal #AFib, adding lesions beyond PVI was associated with more recurrence, repeat ablation, and atypical flutter. An observational study, but an important reminder: more ablation does not necessarily mean better outcomes. Defining when—and for whom—to go beyond PVI remains critical. @PrashSanders @Dr_Santangeli @S_NarayanMD @shivkumarmd @TinaBaykaner @JonHsuMD @peterkistler3 @DocOfHearts @drjohnm @EJSMD @AndreaRussoEP @Phiso_de @DrJasonAndrade

Less is MORE!

Out now in JCE: is more ablation better in paroxysmal AF? 18,891 pts, 27% got PVI+ at first ablation. After matching, PVI+ led to: ↑ Recurrence (HR 1.28) ↑ Redo ablation (HR 1.99) ↑ Atypical flutter (HR 2.63) ↑ Persistent AF (HR 1.37) doi.org/10.1111/jce.70519 @nmarrouche

Worked with Yara for a year, amazing work ethic, brilliant thinking - on her way to become an exceptional surgeon @TulaneTriad @nmarrouche @jamil_borgi

Worked with Michel for a year, brilliant and on top of his tasks - outstanding candidate and promising internist @TulaneTriad @nmarrouche

Officially applied to Internal Medicine! #Match2027 I promised my parents that one day, all the sacrifices would be worth it. One step closer. Forever grateful to my @USJLiban and @TulaneTriad families for being part of this journey. Good luck to everyone! AAMC ID: 17070096

Exciting discussion about optimizing conduction system pacing! “We still struggle with a unified consensus definition of left bundle area capture” #hrx2026 @HRSonline @melchami99 @danealson @FaisalMMerchant @emoryhealthcare @NinoIsakadze

Honored to have the great @PrashSanders talk to us about practical ways to address risk factor modification for our pts w/ AF. at @EmoryUniversity @emoryhealthcare @melchami99 @danealson @FaisalMMerchant @AnandShah_MD @HRSonline @HeartRhythmTV @np_varghese

Honored to present our team’s work at #HRX2026! Always inspiring to see innovations and meet people. Two takeaways from this: 1️⃣ Move beyond baseline and fixed-window prediction to world model. 2️⃣ Treatment during the AF blanking period may offer opportunities for optimization.

An honor to be back @ClevelandClinic global EP summit!! Excited to announce the start of #CASTLEHFpEF ! @SamuelSossalla @Phiso_de @lamcardio @chris_sohns @DrJasonAndrade @PrashSanders @DrRoderickTung @drnatale

AF recurs in up to 50% post-ablation, what's next is often just operator preference. Our study in Europace of 3,100+ patients: redo ablation cut death/stroke/HF by 35% vs. cardioversion (NNT=14). 🫀⚡ @nmarrouche @HanFengGHD @QMarashly 📄 doi.org/10.1093/europace/eua… #AFib #EPeeps

Very important message from our group. In patients with recurrent AF after a first ablation, what we do next matters. Repeat catheter ablation was associated with a 35% lower risk of death, stroke, or HF hospitalization compared with cardioversion, with an NNT of only 14. This challenges the idea that management of recurrent AF should simply be based on operator preference. Recurrence after ablation should not be viewed as failure—it may be an opportunity to intervene again and improve meaningful clinical outcomes. Congratulations to @mabou_khalil @HanFengGHD @QMarashly and the entire team. #AFib #Ablation #EPeeps @PrashSanders @shivkumarmd @gautamsand @S_NarayanMD @Phiso_de @drsuneet @drjohnm @drluissaenz @leftbundle @KennethEllenbo1 @DrBradleyKnight @DrRoderickTung @atulverma_md

As a junior investigator, #WesternAFib is a valuable chance to broaden how I think about AFib. Not necessarily to reach consensus, but to understand the different perspectives, uncertainties, and tradeoffs that shape the field.
