No Reward for the War
I have fought the Devil for so long,
I can hardly remember where the battle began.
Perhaps it was written in my fate,
Perhaps I was simply born into this damned war.
I have no appetite for glory,
No desire for a crown of gold.
Let the world keep its precious rewards;
I demand nothing from this wretched existence.
My wounds need no applause,
My scars need no recognition.
I shall keep walking through the darkness,
Even when the moon refuses to witness my struggle.
The Devil may offer a thousand temptations,
The world may throw a thousand stones.
Let them laugh, let them curse,
I have grown accustomed to swallowing bitterness.
Yet I am pleased to say thank you
To those who never slander me,
To those who leave my name untouched
When the world is hungry for another victim.
Such kindness seems almost miraculous
In this cemetery of hypocrisy.
I ask for no loyalty, no admiration,
Only the absence of another poisoned tongue.
Fighting the Devil is my lifelong mission.
There will be no medals at the end,
No heavenly banquet, no promised reward.
Only a tired warrior,
A fading moon,
And a Snow Fox refusing to abandon the night.
Let history forget my name.
Let the world misunderstand my war.
I shall fight until my final chapter,
Not for a reward,
But because I refuse to kneel before the Devil.
