oof...Shane Gillis's very awkward SNL opening monologue included him calling women whores for wearing shorts at the gym + an anecdote about using Joe Rogan's personal sauna, in which Theo Von said he "looked like a gas station egg" he ended the monologue by saying "you're either gay or you're Hitler, and isn't that where we're at as a country?" which kinda confused the audience, so he literally had to say, "hey, that was the monologue, ladies and gentlemen" here's the first joke: "I haven't been to the gym in so long. I didn't know women just dress like whores now. There's no other way to describe it. Have you seen the shorts? The wrinkles go, like, around the cheeks and all combine at the butthole. And don't look. You're not allowed to look."

helllll yes I loved this response from Matthew Lillard at today's "Scream" NYCC panel about how his and Skeet Ulrich's characters are gay icons Matthew: People approach us all the time like, "You are my queer awakening." And I just want to say that, for us, I think that it's super powerful that our relationship to these characters has nothing to do with being gay, but if it means something to a kid out there somewhere who's like, "Oh, I feel seen in this relationship," that it's important for us to hold that space for these queer icons. We were not doing queer on the day, but we're here for it 30 years later Skeet: [puts his arm around Matthew] We're doing it now!

here's how SNL covered the Cornell University sexual assault lawsuit during Weekend Update Michael Che: Obviously we don't want to make light of anything that happened, but it is a good time to talk about men holding other men accountable. And, look, we all have that one friend that ~seems~ like a nice guy, but they're definitely not... [camera cuts to Colin Jost] Che: It could be someone you're close to or someone you work with. Maybe you can't prove anything. You can just look at him and tell those weird, privileged Ivy League types always have some messed-up stuff going on [camera cuts to Colin again]

this tribute to Catherine O'Hara at the Emmys was soooo sweet wow. and the camera cuts to Martin Short and Steve Martin crying...I'm not okay. her on-screen children Macaulay Culkin, Annie Murphy, and Dan Levy spoke so highly of her Macaulay: "She was encouraging. She was warm. She was funny. But the word that I think of is 'momma.' She was my mom. She was our mom. And by extension, she was all of our mom. She may have forgotten me...twice! But we will always remember her."

Sally Field's tribute to the late Dolly Parton, her Steel Magnolias co-star, was so sweet. "If there are truly angels on earth, then we just lost one: Dolly Parton. She was genuine and humble, supportive, and blisteringly funny, with a bodied sense of humor that would send any rude guy looking for a place to hide. I couldn't see then what a real giant Dolly was, not just as an artist but as a human." #Emmys

Michael J. Fox was just awarded the Bob Hope Humanitarian Award, which has only been given out 7 times in Emmys history. here's his full speech "Initially, I kept my Parkinson's diagnosis a secret. I worried that it would affect my work and my relationship with audiences. Would they laugh if they knew I was sick? And then I was stunned by the support I got. The support from all of you. It was so uplifting. It made me feel like I could keep doing this and I hadn't lost what I do and they couldn't take this away from me. And it's because you stood up for me, and I really appreciate it."

Thank you for being my only crew and my only guest during covid and my only audience...and the only audience I really care about. Yours is the laugh that I want for the rest of my life. I love you"

this year's Emmy Awards are.....very cringe. even the celebs in the audience can't hide their reactions "This year, some of our favorite shows aired their final episodes, and we all know that saying goodbye is hard, but you know what makes it easier? Singing it!" *breaks into musical number*

LOL this whole bit from John Mulaney was so good. I need him to host the Emmys next year "Some of the men in this category do method acting, and some do regular, less annoying acting..." "I believe it was DJ Khaled who said 'real men don't go down on their wives,' but these nominees know that that is B.S. They know there's often less pressure on them if they do that first"
