YOU CAN SEE EVERYTHING outgrossing MELANIA in four days despite being on a fraction of the number of screens is not terribly surprising, but it is more evidence that Amazon/Bezos massively overpaid for that hunk of junk as a sort back-channel bribe to the Trumps.

Kind of a misleading headline, no? "Secures a ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine" would be pretty huge, until you see that it's localized to one town

To sum up my feelings on You Can See Everything: If you watch it and don't feel at least a little bit sorry for Elizabeth Holmes, you have no heart But if you watch it and actually think she was innocent, you have no brain
I felt sorry for Holmes after watching YCSE - I think she was a naive autist failgirl who was misled and/or pressured by people around her (which isn't an excuse for her crimes, legally or morally!) But saying she shouldn't be in prison *just because she has children* is insane

In this week’s notes column, I wrote about why it’s too early to complain about the Oscars, why making fun of DIGGER isn’t bullying, that embargo stuff, Star Wars and the NFL, #PFF35, and much more stephensilver.substack.com/p… @philafcc @OFCS @CriticsChoice

reminder that if you can name a single Senate candidate in a state other than the one you live in running in this year’s midterms you are so wildly outside the window of the median voter you should probably recuse yourself from political polls
American voters have absolutely no idea what’s even going on lmao

THE ONLY LIVING PICKPOCKET IN NEW YORK- Opening night is a gem, starring John Turturro as a criminal from a different time, wearing an impossibly cool jacket #PFF35

ELSINORE- I liked this more than last year's Oscar-bait film, a tragedy adjacent to "Hamlet." Scott is great, but that was just an excessive number of montages. #PFF35

DIARY OF A CHAMBERMAID- I love Radu Jude, but this didn't entirely do it for me; I never thought I'd consider one of his works "not weird enough." But "you look like Mishima after his harakiri" is a Hall of Fame line #PFF35

Important context in here around the quote -- Holmes said other things contemporaneously expressing the same idea, strongly suggesting the NYT had the quote right.
In today's @nytimes Backstory newsletter, I talk to Amy Chozick about the new Elizabeth Holmes documentary and Holmes's dispute over a quote from Chozick's NYT profile of her. The movie brings up the quote several times as it assesses Holmes's veracity. nytimes.com/2026/10/22/insid…

Trump on Jon Husted: "I'm studying his body. I've never studied the body of a man before. It's not my thing. Nothing wrong with it, of course. But it's never been my thing. But I looked at his ass. I said, 'His ass, shit, it's like a pile of muscle.' Then I looked at his legs and I said, 'Man, his feet are big.'"

I like how this implies that Yosemite Sam and Elmer Fudd are a married gay couple who have adopted two of Bugs Bunny’s illegitimate children

He never talked that way about Lindsey when he was alive…
Trump: You have Darline and her very handsome husband. That’s a good looking husband.

Ohio politics blogger and Shrek penis pic texter guesses that long-time Vance advisor and former DHS Tricia's husband/ Kristi Noem $200M horseback ad-maker were the two masterminds of the Vivek Amy Acton molestation mother ad. (I just had to write that sentence because it will never again be possible to string those words together. Let me have hobbies.)
Replying to @OhioCrawler
All roads lead to Jai Chabria and Strategy Group CEO Ben Yoho as the masterminds of the ad. Spokeswoman Connie Luck, who was already en route to Hell, should never work in politics ever again, either, for trying to cast doubt on Acton's well-documented trauma.
