Satoshi Nakamoto released the white paper 18 years ago today on Halloween. You’ve probably read the 9 page version. But it was actually only 8. His original PDF is dated October 3, the day the TARP program bailed out the banks. Satoshi released an update 5 months later in March 2009. In addition to correcting some grammar and spelling mistakes, he added a paragraph on transaction fees. This pushed it into 9 pages. By the way the original working title was “Electronic Cash Without a Trusted Third Party." Many people forget this is a fundamental attribute of Bitcoin’s utility… not having to trust. In fact, the word “trust” appears in the document 14 times. Meanwhile the terms, 21 million, blockchain, mining, and cryptocurrency never appear. Happy Birthday 🎁
