In a collab with @UVaNICU and @vesoulislab we studied physiological effects of dexmedetomidine in #preemies. We considered these results reassuring in the short term, as the cohort was critically ill at baseline➡️call for prospective studies and longer term outcomes #NeoEBM

Mean GA = 28 wks &
Mean HR ⬇️152 to 141 BPM
Mean SpO2 ⬆️ 91% to 93% in the 48 hrs after med start
Mean ABP ⬆️from 40 to 42 mmHg (p=0.01).
BUT ➡️inotropes⬆️before & after initiation.
