Truth In Accounting: NJ last again with $45k of debt per taxpayer. @truthinacct gave NJ "F" grades for all yrs under @GovMurphy, who used revenue windfalls to spend $47bn on pensions but didn't move the needle on total debt. Top 5 states=red; bottom 5=blue sunlightpolicynj.org/truth-i…

NJ continues to feel the effects of @GovMurphy's business-unfriendly policies, but @Govmikiesherril might take a different approach. Retailer Burlington is leaving NJ for PA with 2000 jobs. But Sherrill has taken some small steps and changed the tone a bit sunlightpolicynj.org/in-the-…

NJ's state health plans for govt employees are in crisis but the proposed make-over (A5285/S4438) is a terrible bill, keeping the same structure that caused the crisis while diluting @GovSherrillNJ's power. We don't think she would sign such a lousy bill. sunlightpolicynj.org/gov-she…

Latest research: turmoil at @njea from top to bottom: unprecedented contest for leadership amid a -10% decline in membership. VP and Secy-Treas are challenging Prez @stevebeatty928 and note severe membership problems. When will teachers be told the truth? sunlightpolicynj.org/wp-cont…

Progressive Policy Inst: blue states with strong teachers unions lag red states in literacy reforms, just as they lag in recovery from COVID learning loss. Yet they spend 70% more. Will NJ policymakers choose our children's future or @NJEA political power? sunlightpolicynj.org/progres…

In 2024, @NJEA poured more money into key allies @EdLawCenter, @NJPolicy, NJ Working Families Alliance, bringing the total to $11.3 million. When you see them in action, know they are the external, de facto legal, policy, and paid-GOTV arms of the NJEA. sunlightpolicynj.org/njea-po…

When it comes to teachers' best interests, @NJEA Prez @SteveBeatty928 is all talk and no action. In @njdotcom he talks about pensions but dropped the ball on improving them; talks about financial burdens but hiked dues. And what about the Spiller scandal? sunlightpolicynj.org/when-it…

After wasting $45mm of teachers' dues on the Spiller scandal, @NJEA hikes dues another 3.9% to $1,171 -- highest in the nation by far: 30% more than CA, more than double MA. And for what? So NJEA can drop the ball on improving pensions? The scam continues. sunlightpolicynj.org/even-af…

Kudos to NJ Policy Inst. for forcing @NJEA to admit that $120mm of spending by its Super PAC was political. @NJPIDoes' IRS complaint forced the NJEA to disclose the truth. When will NJEA admit to teachers that ALL of the $120mm was funded by their dues? sunlightpolicynj.org/nj-poli…

NJ parents: the law is on your side regarding school parental notification policies. @America1stLegal explains how recent Supreme Court rulings have strengthened parental rights. Take heart! You have the legal power to protect your constitutional rights. sunlightpolicynj.org/new-jer…

Kudos to @SaveJersey for looking thru the
@NJEA 's claim that NJ schools are #1, noting MS has surged at less than half NJ's cost. Adjusting for wealth,
@urbaninstitute ranks MS #1 and NJ #16. Nobel Laureate blames teachers unions for leaving kids behind sunlightpolicynj.org/mississ…

Real-world consequences: @TaxFoundation ranked NJ 49th or 50th for business climate for all 8 yrs under @GovMurphy. Fortune 500 companies fell from 22 to 15 as they fled to lower-tax states. Now NJ businesses are continuing to lay off thousands of workers sunlightpolicynj.org/real-wo…

Study by @Comm4Prosperity finds that a state's political system matters: Blue States had much lower personal income growth and much higher outmigration of people since 2000. @reason report finds much higher Blue State debt per capita, too. Just like NJ. sunlightpolicynj.org/blue-st…

No more @NJEA-funded culture wars? Looks like NJEA has pulled the plug on Mendacious Michael Gottesman's @NJPECoalition and parents are now "partners." But Gottesman is still mendacious about his "hundreds of millions" moniker and his past NJEA funding. sunlightpolicynj.org/no-more…

NJEA Pres. @SteveBeatty928 wants NJ to forget history and keep funding the broken teachers' pension plan with $4bn/yr until 2049. He omits @NJEA's role in the political deals that undermined TPAF, which is only 48%-funded and most teachers in lousy Tier 5. sunlightpolicynj.org/njea-pr…

Mendacious Michael Gottesman of @NJPECoalition doesn't like being called "mendacious:" we challenge him to refute these examples of his deliberate untruthfulness. If he can't, will he retract his false statements to the press? What say you, Mr. Gottesman? sunlightpolicynj.org/mendaci…

Mendacious Michael Gottesman/@NJPECoalition "Media Alerts" deliberately ignore Supreme Court ruling. NJ laws and policies will soon recognize parents' constitutional right to be notified of transitioning. Gottesman knows this. Ignoring it is mendacious. sunlightpolicynj.org/in-his-…

NJEA rebuke? Non-endorsed @SeanMSpiller flames out in his run for @NEA prez. @NJEA leadership wants everyone to forget about Spiller's scandal-plagued, dues-funded political career. Spiller was on a (likely paid) sabbatical, so teachers foot the bill again sunlightpolicynj.org/njea-re…

Content with their gold-plated, over-funded pensions, @NJEA execs dropped the ball on improving teachers' inferior pensions. Instead they wasted $45mm of dues on Spiller's run. If execs had the same lousy pensions, would they have prioritized pensions? sunlightpolicynj.org/content…

After the Spiller scandal, it looks like @NJEA is losing members. New leadership is acting to stem the outflow. We estimate NJEA has lost 10% and know teachers were angry about the waste of $45mm of dues and lack of transparency. How many members are there?sunlightpolicynj.org/after-t…
