I'm still proud of this project of immense autism. I'm not even half finished with it.

“We are banking 60 degrees.” I built this Learjet 60 N722BD crash visualization using ADS-B flight tracks, altitude and ground-speed records, final ATC radio calls, aerial imagery and crash-site photos. Radio-timed cockpit and exterior views put the descent into perspective, followed by actual dashcam impact footage. Estimated portions are clearly marked. We must be mad, literally mad. It is like watching a nation busily engaged in heaping up its own funeral pyre.

The Falklands are pretty much the only conflict ever where the British are 100% unambiguously correct with zero nuance whatsoever. The Argentine argument is literally just “gib.”

My college dorm project just broke the world speed record. Reaper hit 790 km/h (491 mph) carrying a 1.2 kg (2.6 lb) payload. These 3 Reapers are now the world’s fastest small jet-powered drones. Each of them can hold that speed for 4 minutes on a full tank. Reaper can be rail- or truck-launched, climb to 2,000 m (6,600 ft) in under 20 seconds, then fly for 50 km (31 mi) at full speed. This is now a reliable and repeatable system. Future testing and small optimizations should push the top speed past 800 km/h (500 mph).

Between the vehicle types being shown at DVD and bits and pieces coming out since, I think I can stop sitting on the news. In absence of official announcements don't take the numbers as necessarily gospel, but for all I know the acquisition (known as Project ZEUS, apparently, and driven by the RAPSTONE task force of the Army) looks like this: 550 Chevrolet Silverado LD 300 Toyota Hilux (+270 for 11X in the separate Project NIALA) 130 Vauxhall Movano vans 60 Citroen Relay vans Even taking them as approximate figures, at least they give an appreciation of what we are talking about. This is what moves the UK troops in Forward Land Forces (Estonia / Finlandia) from the new year, essentially. Apparently the Silverado is (kinda-sorta) the Pinzgauer replacement of sort at the moment. Obviously, Silverado is a high profile candidate for LMV, put forward by Team Lionstrike, which is one of the 7 shortlisted suppliers. Certainly can't be bad for them to have gotten through the door early. @historicfirearm and @JointForcesNews took photos of the types as displayed at DVD earlier this year: Hundreds of them have been spotted in the past months sitting in bases and depots, so I don't see the point in continuing to play pretend at this point.
CGS posing with one of the Chevrolet Silverado LD that have been procured as part of the weird "LMV before LMV" buy of pickups and vans to give mobility to 4 Brigade in Estonia from Cabrit 20 onwards. Curiously no one saw fit to announce this substantial buy of c1000 vehicles.

2 years late and with a rubbish weapons fit that it needs to go back in to refit for straight after trials, even more delaying it. Still not even a hull sonar.

Babcock yesterday communicated the handover of its GLV vehicles to the Army for the Light Mobility Vehicle evaluation trials. The vehicles handed over are interesting. From the left, the Tactical Mobility Vehicle (internal transport on CH-47 is required for this variant); General Purpose (the one we saw the most in the past releases) and the Battlefield Ambulance, on the 6x6 base.

Slavery was an evil in which people from every continent and region participated. We should be honest about the whole history, not select the parts that are politically convenient today, especially given Britain's leading role in ending the transatlantic slave trade. If Caribbean countries are asking Britain for a formal apology for Britain’s role in the transatlantic slave trade, will they also be asking the same of the descendants of African kingdoms, rulers and merchants who captured, sold and profited from the trade? On demands for reparations, whether through cash or debt relief, we have been down this track before. Twenty-five years ago, Jubilee 2000, Drop the Debt and Make Poverty History argued that cancelling the debts of poorer countries would give them a fresh start. More than $100 billion of debt was eventually written off, but many of those countries have since built up even bigger debts. Labour are already spending too much on Britain's welfare state, now is not the time for Andy Burnham to be providing global welfare. There is no reason British taxpayers today should be held financially responsible for things that happened generations before any of us were born. And I have even less patience for political elites in commonwealth countries who don’t know how to make their own citizens prosperous now looking for another opportunity to blame Britain. As Prime Minister, Andy Burnham should be Britain’s greatest defender. Instead, he is writing articles saying we need to confront our history (as if we haven't done enough of that) and considering another formal historical apology. Tony Blair already expressed Britain’s deep sorrow and regret for our role in the slave trade nearly twenty years ago. There is no need to do so again. This is all another navel-gazing distraction. The Commonwealth should be looking forward, not endlessly backwards. That means economic partnerships to make us all richer and deeper military and security cooperation against common threats. If every Commonwealth summit becomes an exercise in presenting Britain with demands for cash then we need to start asking if it is worth the effort.

They make employing people unaffordable and then whinge about the consequences.
I am deeply concerned that Poundland jobs are at risk here in constituency of #PaisleyRenfrewshireNorth in #Braehead with many constituents impacted. Poundland has filed a notice of intention to appoint administrators, putting 11,000 jobs at risk across more than 600 stores and distribution centres across the UK. I welcome PM Andy Burham's support for Poundland workers & like him, I question why the company's owners chose not to accept a viable solvent offer which @UsdawUnion say could have prevented this outcome. This situation was entirely predictable by @Poundland according to the Shop Workers Trade Union who have been monitoring the situation closely for some time. I have reached out to parliamentary colleagues to explore what options are available to assist and I hope to meet with USDAW trade union who represent Poundland workers to discuss the local issues in more detail.
