I saw the clips. The Yamal thing was an obvious light, inoffensive joke. Genuinely surprised at the bad reaction
The Socrates one was delivered super weird
The worst one was asking Burna boy if he could hear. All in all, I think Henry can't deliver the right tone very well
Thierry Henry has posted a video regarding the criticism he received after co-hosting the Ballon d’Or ceremony with Kate Scott…
And it was the perfect response 👏🫡
Henry's biggest punditry/ presentation issues are that he can be long winded, not quite deliver the right tone, and can come across inauthentic. I'm guessing much of this was planned
I dont think he tries to ego check people lmao, in fact he does the humble gimmick too much.
with all the ballon d'or talk, just a shout for those who don't know:
I made an in depth video on Thierry Henry and the ballon d'or; I scrutinize popular narratives, rated each year on how much he deserved it, and tried to determine what this award actually values

why do people think Vieira is so much better than Keane? They are at the very least close. Keane was probs United's most important player for a good stretch of a hugely successful period, and has some technical advantages over Vieira. Vieira has his own advantages too ofc
All time Prem 11 that wud slap any Messi-less team EASILY. You can't contain this, and u cant go through them. I'd never fear losing
Tried for for balance+quality instead of just cramming best legacy or individual peaks

The control, creative qualities, technical consistency of that midfield. Mwah
Small spaces, triangles, duels, long balls, ball carrying, box crashing. Has everything. Cesc releasing those forwards quickly or finding KDB between the lines.
Some temptations:
Bergkamp for KDB
Trent for James
Going 433 with a proper 9, or Salah at RW or Hazard LW
Saliba for Sol
Suarez
Rice/Vieira for Keane
Scholes for Cesc
Henry's such a joke man. Just fades an entire defence like it's nothing. it's a highlight that barely anyone knows about, and he's got so many of these
The Henry Pyramid 👑
From Monaco, through Arsenal’s Invincibles, to Barça glory.
Elegance. Technique. Pace. Finishing. Assists. Leadership.
When you can touch greatness in so many ways, sometimes, you’re judged harder than everyone else.
The M'Bappé Pyramid
From Monaco UCL nights to World Cup brilliance: speed, acceleration, finishing.
M'Bappé has amazed us!
Can he become one of the greatest ever ?
The story isn’t over.
i wish there was more HD up close footage of Henry. Seeing someone that powerful, yet nimble and elegant moving like that - it's so unique
I always feel the very best, truly generational players are literally shaped and move differently. They look super distinct
their bodies dont quite make sense, it's almost awkward - yet it all works. They're not just 'normal' great athletes like many great players are. The very best ones look not quite human. Look at Henry accelerate with the ball in these clips. He's more panther than man
This argument always baffles me. Ekitike and Joao Pedro would NOT win 'ballon d'ors' (plural??!) 20 years ago lmao. You know Messi, Cr7 and Modric were playing 20 years ago right? Messi is STILL better than them
Yes the game has changed, but it's not a different sport ffs
Bergkamp is OBVIOUSLY more technical than most players. Also give Henry, Ronaldinho and Bergkamp modern training+tactics+superteam and they'd destroy teams more than they did back then coz build up + placing attackers in favourable conditions improved more than defences have
old comp i made years ago. From what i remember team played poorly apart from Henry sometimes trying to conjure something. Were down 3-1 from first leg - also poor performance from everyone. Henry was the only remotely consistent CL player in this era
