This is spot on‼️
I think at times we spend WAY too much time making hitters feel good in the cage instead of preparing them for what the game actually demands.
Tee work, front toss, and controlled BP all have their place.
But eventually hitters need to be challenged. Different speeds, locations, counts, and situations. Force them to make decisions, compete, and adjust.
The goal isn’t to be the best hitter in the cage. It’s to develop a hitter who can perform when the lights come on. ⚾️🔑
I asked an MLB player what he wishes he knew earlier about hitting.
“Feel-good BP is backwards. You’re wanting to feel good when it doesn’t matter and you have a false sense of 'being ready'"
"Get your routine in. Then challenge yourself in the box every single day."
"Nobody’s ever gotten a hit that counts in a cage."
"All those barrels off a 47 mph fastball stay there. What comes with you is how you trained your eyes, your decisions, and your path at game speed.”
