Samsung LPDDR6 RAM Powers Next-Generation On-Device AI
First to pass validation on the next-generation Snapdragon platform, delivering high bandwidth and power efficiency.
Does this mean the Samsung Galaxy S27 Ultra will feature the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 instead of the Exynos 2700 ? 🤔
🟠 Efficient Data flow enables smooth AI workloads
Samsung's LPDDR6 addresses this challenge by increasing single-pin I/O speeds and expanding the I/O architecture, delivering up to 114GB/s of memory bandwidth. Higher bandwidth helps alleviate data transfer bottlenecks, enabling systems to access the data needed for AI processing more efficiently, thus supporting a more responsive edge AI experience.
🟠 A balance between Performance and Power Consumption
Samsung's LPDDR6 integrates Dynamic Voltage and Frequency Scaling (DVFS) and Dynamic Efficiency Mode (DEM) to optimize power consumption in real time based on changing workload demands. DVFS dynamically adjusts the operating voltage and frequency according to performance requirements, while DEM reduces unnecessary power consumption when system utilization is low. These two technologies work together to improve LPDDR6's energy efficiency by up to 21% compared to the previous generation LPDDR5X
🟠 Collaborative Optimization Verification : Industry-leading breakthrough
Samsung has successfully validated 16GB of LPDDR6 on Qualcomm Technologies' Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 platform, achieving I/O speeds of up to 10.7Gbps. This achievement marks the industry's first successful validation of LPDDR6 on Qualcomm Technologies' next-generation mobile platform.
Samsung will continue to work closely with Qualcomm Technologies to further advance the development of high-performance, low-power memory solutions, supporting the next generation of AI devices.
