l've made the decision to continue my academic and baseball career at Galveston College. I'm ready to earn my spot and continue my journey with Coach Gardner and Coach Burger. Grateful for the belief this staff is putting in me, and ready to represent this program the right way.
Before I look forward, I have to look back. I want to thank God, my family, and every coach who helped me get to this point.
Mom and Dad: You believed in me before there was anything to believe in. The late nights talking through workout plans, the constant push to do more, the sacrifices I'll never fully see. All of it built this. I love y'all.
This one's for you.
Grandpa Sergio: You took me everywhere. You gave me your time when it was the most valuable thing you had. You could have chosen anything else, and you chose me. I'll carry that with me every time I take the mound. Thank you. I love you.
Grandma Sonia: Even though you're not here anymore, you are in this.
You gave my parents a home when they needed one. You gave me your prayers and your kitchen. I will carry those memories with me forever.
To every coach who helped me out through my journey (Coach Josiah Ortiz, Raul Ortiz, Ricky Ramirez, Richard Andrews, Dean Doxakis, TJ, JB): Every single one of you played a role, whether it was baseball, weightlifting, conditioning, or just teaching me how to carry myself. You chose to pour into me. Y'all will forever be in my heart.
Coach Pierre: You were the first. You took me under your wing and never once stepped away. You taught me what it means to be an athlete and what it means to be a man. You're the reason I know how to put in work. Love you, man.
To my family: Every one of you who filled the stands, showed me love after every game, and made every sacrifice along the way, thank you.
Cousins, thank you for teaching me the game, teaching me how to work, and teaching me how to cook. I'll never forget those moments.
Coach Cory Gafford and the Vetter Family: You gave me the best summer ball l've ever played, and you opened the door to Galveston College. I would not be a Whitecap without you. Thank you.
I picked a standard. Because y'all set one first.
