The irony of Christianity is that it’s more difficult to receive the gift of eternal life than it is to earn it. This is the heart of the Gospel—and the fight of the Reformation.

“Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron’s cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.” — C.S. Lewis

"An apostate rarely leaves the church." Because wolves stay where the sheep are.
Replying to @ZachWLambert
Christian since 5. Pastor since 19. That's a résumé, Zach, not a confession. Arius was ordained too. An apostate rarely leaves the church. He stays in the pulpit and rewrites the faith. That's you. You told a same-sex couple their marriage "brings great joy to the heart of God." You posted that there are "absolutely no 'biblical' grounds for being anti-trans." Jesus disagreed: "From the beginning of creation, 'God made them male and female'" (Mark 10:6). Baker Publishing carries us both as authors. I'd ask them to put our pictures as far apart as the east is from the west (Psalm 103:12). Jesse Myers needs to take care of that or I am out at Baker. @ReadBakerBooks You champion a man who told the Texas House "God is non-binary" and used Luke 1 to defend abortion. Luke calls the child in the womb a brephos, a baby (1:41), the same word he uses for Jesus in the manger. The most vulnerable Texan can't vote. You just voted against him. You described "the way of Jesus" without the cross. Paul called that a different gospel and its preacher anathema, set apart for destruction (Galatians 1:8). Jude called such men "waterless clouds" and "fruitless trees in late autumn, twice dead, uprooted" (Jude 12). Repent while the door is open.

And Lizzie is defending Sey, "with no real details of what happened". Both sides of this are equally wrong, and need to chill.

Well said. I would add, the same goes for your very life. Spill your life out as a drink offering for others.
Most families view their wealth as a shield against the world. Families that last view their wealth as a platform for engagement and contribution to the society that allows them to flourish.

Many people don’t seem to understand this: If Sey entered the country illegally OR overstayed a temporary visa and then got married, both he and his wife violated the law. To many, it would look like she married to get him citizenship. I’m not saying either of these things is true. But even if he is now married to a U.S. citizen, he can still be deported. And if he married while he was here illegally, he should be deported. Finally, if he did any of the above, it wasn’t a “mistake in paperwork”—it was an illegal act. It was a crime. Let’s wait for all of the facts to come in before we either excuse or condemn him.

My hope is that when the dust settles we will learn that he did nothing wrong and it truly was a paperwork issue.

They murdered Charlie Kirk. If that doesn’t get you to the polls, you don't understand that you're next.

The only Christian position on the Samuel Sey issue is: If he is guilty of immigration violations, he should suffer the consequences, but if he is innocent, he should be released. Your personal opinion on how nice he is, is irrelevant. Furthermore, the fact that he is a Christian doubles his guilt (if he is guilty). It doesn’t mitigate it.

Without all of the facts, to either condemn him, or defend him, is wrong.

You know, this cycle ends with you alone at sixty with four cats, drinking boxed Chardonnay, right?
"Call Her Daddy" host Alex Cooper & actress Sophia Bush: if a woman is questioning whether she can do better than her current husband, "the answer is always yes." "This idea that it's too late or you're too old, or who are you to want more, that's patriarchy. That is crazy."
