Armenia is about to get a new tallest building. Designed by Foster + Partners, the towers will rise as part of $470M World Trade Center Yerevan -- a major mixed-use development in Yerevan, the Armenian capital.
The project features two interconnected towers rising to 224 and 200 metres, containing offices, a hotel, residences and shared amenities. Three elevated connections will link the buildings, incorporating landscaped terraces and communal spaces. The towers are set to be formed from stacked seven-storey sections, with concrete frames and steel bracing engineered to withstand seismic activity in the earthquake-prone region.
At ground level, the buildings will be raised to free up 50% of the site for public space. The development will include landscaped plazas, retail, entertainment venues and an events space capable of accommodating 3,000 people.
The masterplan also draws on architect Alexander Tamanian’s historic vision for Yerevan as a garden city, extending an existing green corridor through the development.
Demolition work has already begun on the site of the former General Post Office building. The project is targeting completion in 2030.
