When I was at uni in Durban in 🇿🇦 a sociology lecturer said there was enough food in the world to feed everyone and hunger was a distribution problem. Grain was dumped in the sea to keep prices up, for example. It’s the same with wealth. There is enough for all of us if we share

I’m sorry but the British establishment, long fronted by the Tories, has been shown throughout history to have made downright evil decisions and I will forever assume they knowingly seeded Covid into care homes or at best said fuck the iceberg, full steam ahead. The lying thieves

One thing that pisses me off about this guy is that he’ll msg his mom every day but not me. Your mom’s not gonna suck your dick bro
There are many different kinds of love, and I’m currently in the wrong kind. It’s a rollercoaster, I don’t like rollercoasters

It’s stupid how AI will show you all pictures of an umbrella in your camera roll but won’t find you your own ass

We’re not paid as much as Americans because of the “social contract”, which they’re slowly stripping away from us anyway

I want more money but I don’t wanna work more. I have a “good” job. So do I hustle - buy and sell shit? No thanks. Am I supposed to invest in AI or defence stocks? No thanks. I want my company to profit less and pay more or life to cost less. The profit/growth motive is the issue

And all this while The Social Reckoning and Digger are on at the movies - about the evil billionaires
A brief review of recent technical “errors” at Meta: 1. Restricting the Facebook pages of Brazilian president Lula who is in a runoff election against a Trump-favored candidate 2. Shutting down the pages of Albanians protesting Jared Kushner’s plans to build a luxury resort in the country 3. Rejecting ads for a documentary critical of Elon Musk 4. Shutting down the No Kings instagram page in the middle of a major anti-Trump protest

Ok my heating is on and I’m mentally preparing for the clock change (aka end of the world) on Sunday. Solidarity with all my summer-loving friends. We can do this, let the 5-month countdown until the next clock change begin

I saw The Social Reckoning last night. A good account of how a whistleblower and journalist worked together to expose how Facebook was promoting outrage, how the algorithm was driving people towards extremist groups and more while Zuckerberg knew, lied and cared only for clicks

I find this fascinating, from a sociological point of view, and can’t help wondering how many times through the centuries Paris might have looked like this but we wouldn’t have known without smartphones and drones and aircraft
Real photo from a pilot’s cockpit. How has it come to this?

My biggest ever tweet is still riding high at 74k and it’s got a fucking autocorrect error in it 😭 Sometimes I think that helps with people, adds an element of ‘this is a real person’

It’s really riled people up and the divisions run along lines of empathy and intelligence All I was trying to do was get people to feel their feelings about one issue and extend those feelings to others Of course a lot of people instinctively know and far more liked the tweet

I’d you’re shocked at the damage in France to an old town hall you’ll be horrified to hear what’s happened to the beautiful old buildings and heritage of the Palestinians, Lebanese, Syrians, Iraqis and Afghans

It was Musk’s idea to cut USAID, leading to many deaths, and Musk’s idea to hamper Starlink in Ukraine, also leading to deaths. He is an awful man - the archetype of the detached elite. Hijacking democracy in America, fuelling divisive rhetoric online and shielding Trump’s crimes

Latest: Zelenskyy tells reporters over WhatsApp that restrictions on Ukraine's Starlink systems remain. Interceptor drones can't function, logistics and operations hobbled. The maximum speed is 161 kph; "exceeding this limit causes the Starlink connection to cut out completely, resulting in the loss of the drone." He says Ukraine has done tests to determine whether SpaceX is truly facing technical issues, as has been told Kyiv by the US side, or if this is a "deliberate operation... to restrict us, cut us off, and prevent us from defending ourselves and protecting our people, both at the front and among the civilian population." He says Ukraine "sent a couple of vehicles equipped with Starlink terminals into European Union territory." "They moved at speeds exceeding 180kph, and the Starlink systems worked perfectly. We have the relevant logs and evidence to prove this." He adds: "The conclusion is clear: the restrictions are in effect within Ukraine but do not apply within the European Union. In other words, this is a planned operation."

I still think about this sometimes and wonder what happened at that meeting between Trump and Putin that alarmed staffers so much. Especially in the context of what’s just happened with Ukraine, Trump, Musk and Starlink
Peter Alexander: "What struck me was the looks on the faces of a lot of the American, delegation here. Caroline Leavitt, Steve Witkoff, who came into the room, then left quickly. Leavitt appeared to be a bit stressed out, anxious. Their eyes were wide, almost ashen at times."
