We are building and equipping a network of 10,000+ scholars and leaders to turn the ideas of freedom into outcomes in classrooms, policy, and culture.

Liberal democracy in the United States has persisted for 250 years because each generation tested it and adapted it to changing circumstances. Today it faces a crisis of confidence and execution. The inaugural Liberal Solutions Summit, hosted by IHS, opens today in Washington, DC. Over the next few days, scholars, builders, and leaders will take five problems we currently face as Americans and try to build consensus around a solution to each: trust in institutions, the future of news, the values built into AI, the psychology of abundance, and the path to energy abundance. The summit rests on a simple premise: liberal democracy and material abundance depend on people who test ideas against real problems. Follow along for what comes next, as our participants come together to create #liberalsolutions

Professor Asma Uddin traces how Texas officials have recast mosques, prayer rooms, and Islamic arbitration as security threats rather than protected First Amendment religious exercises. The Constitution asks only whether the exercise is religious, not whether it is familiar to us. Read Uddin's full piece in @ConversationUS linked below: hubs.la/Q04xVLJH0

A postcard for an IHS summer seminar landed in John Tomasi's mailbox and he spent the $500 he saved to go. There he clashed with one of the speakers but managed to still turn his argument into an essay that became his first publication. Now he leads the Heterodox Academy. Justin Gest's new book, "Democratic Drain: Global Migration and the Struggle for Democracy," argues that immigrants leave authoritarian countries because they already believe in democracy, not because they want to import its opposite. IHS supported the research and writing behind it. Joseph Politano breaks down the case in The Argument. hubs.la/Q04x2L5f0

Housing, healthcare, transportation, and energy now claim two-thirds of the average household budget. At the @StatePolicy Annual Meeting today, Alicia Plemmons of the Knee Regulatory Research Center, Yang Zhou of the University of North Texas, and IHS's Shane Courtland and Reed Dhein outlined state-level reforms that could bring those costs down.

America turned 250 this year, and the questions the founders debated are still the ones students are asking. CivicsMind provides a place to ask real questions about the Constitution, the courts, and the duties of citizenship, and get answers grounded in the founding documents, not opinion. Every answer ends with a question that sends students back to the original texts.  Free access for your classroom at hubs.la/Q04vchVv0

IHS partnered with @PubKey DC for the first time to bring start-up founders, investors, technologists, and scholars into a room built around Bitcoin. The conversation covered permissionless innovation, property rights, energy and AI infrastructure. It included Marty Bent's evidence for why data centers can be viewed as a net gain for the towns that host them. Watch this clip, then head to our YouTube for the full conversation with @MartyBent and @GideonOPowell .

Twenty-eight thinkers. One conversation partner for every student in the room. This recording walks through Classical Liberal Mind, a free AI platform built on the work of Adam Smith, F.A. Hayek, and 26 other voices from the classical liberal tradition. See how an instructor could fold it into a syllabus, how a student could turn it into a standing tutor, and how one question leads to the next primary text. Try it for free while watching the demo: classicalliberalmind.ai/

In 2009, Guadalupe Correa-Cabrera moved ten minutes from the birthplace of Mexico's most violent cartel to start her first faculty job. Eight years there reshaped her research: what stops cartel violence from crossing borders isn't a wall, it's whether public institutions work. An IHS grant is now helping her to finish her next book. Capping hospital, drug, and insurance prices sounds like the fix for US health care. In the @nytimes, IHS scholars Lorens Helmchen and Tony LoSasso say these price controls don't erase costs, they push them into longer waits and thinner care. hubs.la/Q04rlmj70
