Global AI spending is projected to hit $2.52 trillion in 2026, yet a $383 billion Yield Crisis shows most value remains trapped in alignment and execution gaps, not technology limits, but leadership and organizational maturity failures.
During my recent conversations with AI leaders focused on Global South economies, the understanding sustained that the risk is acute: it holds the majority of the world’s population and data potential but controls under 3% of AI compute, risking deeper dependency by importing mismatched models that erode sovereignty and waste scarce capital.
High talent and culture scores are repeatedly stranded by weak data foundations, chaotic operations, and absent governance, turning potential into Execution Drag.
The path forward is clear: measure first, build sovereign data estates, evolve talent into orchestrators, install human oversight, and prioritize only initiatives that deliver yield, so the Global South (in fact everyone globally for true sovereignty) architects its own Stage 4–5 maturity and economic agency rather than consuming someone else’s.
