Apparently the mere discussion of 'male victimhood' is now emblematic of 'the manosphere'. Vilifying conversation of male victimisation is something we should embrace as part of everyday conversation, rather than further stigmatise with these chidlish, fear mongering policies.

I’ve tried so many things to highlight the absurdity of how society neglects men and boys. Infographics, filmmaking, personal testimony, podcasts, reels, written word, campaigns, protests, petitions, animations, poetry... Each of these have had different levels of success, and largely feel underwhelming. No matter what I create, it can never truly showcase what is going on. And then, something is sent to my inbox, an official Government document no less, that captures the whacky landscape of men and boys issues better than anything I could ever hope to create. This particular document was titled: ‘Supporting male victims of crimes considered violence against women and girls’. Errr… male victims of violence against women and girls?! It’s hauntingly perfect. So let’s take a look at the damage such “gendering” of issues creates, who it harms, and how… ~ My new Ask Me (Us) Anything with @lisabritton is out now! piped.video/watch?v=bAYEaT8W… Bilateral abuse researchgate.net/publication… Injuries from bilateral abuse pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/1739…

What started with me quietly creating content, hiding in my bedroom from a tyrannical man-hating house mate, is now me talking on national radio, on the biggest podcasts in the world, or sat on the main stage of Europe’s largest festival of the future, speaking in front of a sell out crowd. What was originally an audience of one, became ten, then a hundred, a thousand, and is now one hundred thousand. It’s been a rather wild ride, not one I ever expected, and nor is it one I could have done without you. So thank you.

Thanks bud. Although men of 'all socioeconomic groups' have worse health outcomes, not just average men. Although maybe I'm just 'naive as fuck'!

If roles were reversed, and it were a male politician making this face whilst a woman was addressing the parliament, it would kick off an "urgent national conversation" about how disrespectful Australian men are to women, misogyny, the political boys club, male entitlement, the manosphere, rape culture, how this perpetuates male violence against women, and on, and on, and on. Albanese would probably order a Royal Commission. When @sarahinthesen8 does it to @senatorbabet there's crickets.

And who are the remaining 3/4?
25 women and girls. That’s how many were killed 𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙮 𝙙𝙖𝙮 in conflict zones in 2025. #Peace must mean safety for women and girls. 🔗 More on the @UN Secretary-General's report on #WomenPeaceSecurity: unwomen.org/en/news-stories/… #ForAllWomenAndGirls
Community note
According to the same UN report, women and girls accounted for one in four of over 37,000 civilian deaths in 2025. Men and boys were the remaining three-quarters. The report notes men are still likelier to be killed. unwomen.org/en/articles/fa

So what is behind this strange double standard? And is every boy not someone else’s son? What do you think? ~ Brookings report @RichardvReeves tinyurl.com/8unmdxv6

And this leaves us with a bizarre contradiction. If you ask Americans: are they more worried about their sons or daughters, every group, men, women, liberals and conservatives, says “our sons”. But ask them if they are more worried about girls or boys, then you’ll see liberals flip, with more concern for “girls”. Yup they are worried for their sons, but less so for ‘boys’…

Despite being behind at every stage of education, in almost every area, and in every country in the west (with a few exceptions), the world is yet to fully wake up to what is happening to boys in school. Instead – We blame boys for not applying themselves, expecting them to sit still and read quietly for hours every day, within an educational system that is simply not designed for them. And so these frustrated, bored and bemused boys disengage, misbehave, fall behind, and drop out; to the point that, by the time it comes to university, they are outnumbered by girls 3:2. The systemic failure of boys is beyond doubt, and yet people don’t want to hear it… Until, that is, they have a son of their own, and they see the tragic tale of boys’ educational underachievement play out in real time.

In America, men have worse health outcomes across every ethnic, racial and socioeconomic group; they are more likely to die at every age; and they lead in 13 of the top 15 causes of death. Meanwhile, the National Institutes of Health spends about 2.5 times more on women’s health research than it does on men’s, and this has been true for nearly forty years. Yet, despite this… there are now eight federal, tax-funded Offices of Women’s Health, and zero for men. And so, statistically speaking, the formation of the first Office of Men’s Health seems like a no-brainer, and an urgently needed step to help stem the deluge of early male deaths. But sadly, many still find it a controversial ask, and remain dedicated to undermining any political move to open such an office. Instead, such people insist the opposite is true: that women’s health is where attention, and all the funding, should go. So let’s look at the stats and ask what is so unpopular about men living long, healthy, happy lives… What do you think? ~ My new Ask Me (Us) Anything with @LisaBritton is out now! piped.video/watch?v=bAYEaT8W… Men lead in 13 of the top 15 causes of death sciencedirect.com/science/ar… NIH Gendered Funding jameslnuzzo.substack.com/p/n… Men and boys have higher mortality at every age washingtonpost.com/wellness/… Men have worse health in every group congress.gov/bill/119th-cong…
