5 years ago I set a goal of building a business to $1 million... I did it.

Adam Robinson, whose family perished on the jet crash was active on X, like us. Great post I found below, how he left Wall Street, to spent more time with his family. Victims like this, deserve better, not conspiracies. God bless him and his family. 🙏 ❤️
In my 20’s, I used to work on Wall Street. People my age now (45) said they were working 70, 80, 90 hours a week for their families…but all their families actually wanted was their presence. They didn’t understand why their families resented how much they worked when they lived in a nice house, and their kids went to private schools. It was just the world we all lived in. We knew nothing else. I decided early in my startup journey that wasn’t going to be me. My co-founders and I have always had a policy of quitting at 5 or 5:30. By that, I mean: > Shut off my laptop > No more work talk > Go home to my family Frequently I’m out even earlier - 3-5, depending on whether I want to do something with the kids. I rarely travel for work and don’t entertain for work. My family life gives me energy for my work. My work gives me energy for my family life. I'm trying to stay not burnt out and excited about this for several decades. Can every founder choose this? Maybe not everybody, but more people have the choice than realize they do. There is great reward that comes from designing a business around the life you want.

The way in which our kids learn is gonna be unrecognizable in 1-2 years Heck, the way I learn too
Today, we're shipping real-time graphics. Using Sol 6.1 Ultrafast we can generate custom overlays, diagrams, and even interactive 3D scenes right on a user's screen, no chat. It's a new visual interface for AI. Here's me learning about LLMs + hardware. Demo:

I don’t entirely disagree @MatijaLebo (I can’t reply to your repost) But I also think back to the hours wasted in school when my brain switched off and I lost interest. Heck, it’s why I left 6th form / UK college at 16/17 years old because I was bored stupid, and classes were catering to the lowest denominator. Once I knew I could learn on my own terms I devoured everything I could find on the internet in niches I found interesting. nitter.siddz.com/matijalebo/status/2116…
All these pro AI teaching threads make me scratch my head. Think back to when you went to school. When did you retain the most information? Was it from a teacher reading out of a textbook or teaching something they were passionate about? AI will be worse for our kids overall when it comes to education

Roughly 25-40k UK businesses have annual turnover of £10 million or more. The full Founders’ Relief tests: • founder still holding ≥25% from the very start of trading • five years of continuous ownership and UK residency • 15+ qualifying full-time employees excluding directors and contractors • sustained 25% compound growth from a £10m base or equivalent R&D spend • and the company still carrying on its original trade … So how many qualify? The pool of companies that could ever produce a qualifying disposal are extremely small - on the order of hundreds to low thousands at most, or roughly 0.01% of the overall UK business population. 🫠
The UK budget is in. Here's everything you need to know: 🇬🇧 No exit tax or increase in capital gains 🇬🇧 Brand new "founder’s relief” - 10% tax up to £10m lifetime gains and BADR thresholds cut by half 🇬🇧 The non-compete ban we already knew about, but slightly more fleshed out 🇬🇧 The additional AI money, which we already knew about, but in more detail 🇬🇧 Some very important changes to visas to attract better talent to the UK 🇬🇧 £5bn for BBB including more money to back female founders 🇬🇧 "Young Entrepreneurs Allowance" which covers living costs for young entrepreneur I have probably missed some bits but overall this is a lot more pro-tech and pro-entrepreneur than I think people were expecting. Great stuff from @adepledge, @Dom_Hallas and all those working tirelessly behind the scenes to advocate for a strong entrepreneurial economy here in the UK. LETS GO

Jai’s a bloody good dude, and although he’s not paying me to say this (I wish he was)… The Starters is a beast of a platform
AI is making your brand mediocre. That’s why I’m launching @TheStartersHQ: the human layer behind your business. We give you direct access to the people who have built category-defining brands so you can: ➔ Learn from their expertise ➔ Consult 1:1 with them ➔ Hire them to execute for you Because as AI makes execution cheaper... Human brilliance becomes priceless.

Brits really are a bunch of miserable bast*rds I say that as (sadly) one of them 🫠
I can appreciate dry British humour but this is more than that It's a perfect example of how grey and cynical British people are How are you not impressed? Are you not entertained? A car just flew in your lifetime 100 years ago we were being pulled by horses They see it as "well, it's a start isn't it" you morbid fucks it's more than a start He made a car that drove vertically and then upside down and it literally cleared a fleet of other vehicles British people only see the problems Even if the problem is a lack of problem-solving They'll ask "Well, what problem does it solve?" THE LACK OF COOL THINGS PROBLEM CARS ARE DOING KICKFLIPS BRUV

As I was saying..
The UK has been ranked the second-most miserable country in the world, according to a global well-being index. Only Uzbekistan came lower in the rankings.

I’ve spent a few days thinking about the Tesla Roadster reveal and landed somewhere I haven’t seen much discussion. I’m neither a Tesla fanboy nor a Tesla hater. And I couldn’t care less whether what we saw technically qualifies as a flying car. Three takeaways: (1) The risk of that live demonstration going horribly wrong was real. Almost no CEO would willingly expose their company to that kind of public humiliation for a product with so little financial upside. Elon did. (2) That willingness to attempt the seemingly impossible is what makes Tesla special. It’s also arguably Elon’s greatest contribution to America. He’s helped bring back something we’ve lost. The American spirit of chasing big scary ideas that most people think are impossible. That mindset is spreading across a new generation of founders and its long term impact on America’s future could dwarf anything Tesla ever sells. I think this is deeply underappreciated. (3) Can we just acknowledge how insanely cool that moment was? We’ve reached a strange place culturally where even extraordinary feats of human ingenuity immediately become arguments about why they don’t count. Not everything needs to be a debate. Sometimes we should just be able to stand back together and marvel at what humans are capable of. I’ve been both bullish and critical of Tesla’s ambitions over the years. But watching Elon and his team push the boundaries of what’s possible reminds me why I’m glad we have him. Whether the Roadster ever makes Tesla a dollar or impacts $TSLA stock price is almost beside the point. We need more people willing to risk failure in pursuit of things the rest of us think are impossible. Because when they succeed we all win.

You can just do things… like build a Hot Wheels track
Replying to @Scobleizer
True. You will be able to ask the Roadster to perform any of the tricks shown autonomously, as it will be sentient. Also, we will have a wild looping track (crazier even than Hot Wheels) at our Texas HQ where you can test out your Roadster.

Yes and no look at the amount of attention Porsche is getting off posts just like these 👇
Man, Porsche picked THE WORST day to reveal their new Supercar concept called Mission S. Literally on the same day as the Tesla Roadster Event. 😂💀 That’s tough
