I wrote 8,000 words on Hayao Miyazaki’s creative process at Studio Ghibli. “Ideas rise to the surface from unknown places in the mind,” he says. “I mean the most primitive brain. The ancient, reptile part. It’s very savage, but it’s usually under control.”readtrung.com/p/hayao-miyaza…

Linus Torvalds recently wrote about using AI to clean up old Linux code. He wrote in a Git message that some code was “too obscure” so he “did what I preach: use modern LLM tools to help make sense of it all.” Found bugs going back to 2013 and fixed them.

Eric Schmidt owns 1% of Anthropic. Dario’s wife — who Schmidt used to date — introduced him to Anthropic. Schmidt’s peak ownership of Google was 5% (now ~1%). He got that Google CEO job after going to Burning Man with Larry Page and Sergey Brin. Next-level networking skills.
JUST IN: Former Google CEO Eric Schmidt revealed to own roughly 1% of Anthropic, a stake potentially worth $20,000,000,000.00 ahead of the company's IPO.

If someone on your team is building a public reputation in your industry, that's the cheapest marketing you'll ever get. Treat it like a flight risk and you'll turn it into one.

a very entertaining part of Brady Rogers campaign is that he made a fake attack ad of himself and batted away the allegations
A Canadian man who told voters he had no idea what he was doing won the city council election His campaign used messages like "Just trying to pay my rent" and "Let's see what happens?"

am big fan of Tin Can (wifi enabled landline phone)…show your kids the “wait by the phone for your friend to call you between 4pm and 5pm” struggle is too real
Eight Collab portfolio companies made TIME's Best Inventions of 2026. A landline for kids (Tin Can), a smartphone that does less (Dumbphone 2) and a bookmark that remembers (Mark II) among other gems. Proud of the founders and amazing products.

Leaner plan benefits, higher rates, and a lot of confusion for consumers. I spoke with @GydeInc co-founder and CEO, @Will_Johnson, about how Gyde gives brokers the tools to meet this moment and guide consumers through it. Watch the full episode in this post. Blackstone created an AI chief investment officer, which is trained on 14 years of the PE firm’s internal deal memos and debates. Every potential new Blackstone investment requires reading of two memos now: a deal team memo and one from AI CIO (it doesn’t have a vote, though).

Matsson follows up his musings on France with a relentless series of jabs at Roy family. One of the best written Succession scenes: ▫️”Lecture me Vaulter Guy" ▫️”[Waystar is] a parts shop. Good parts. Bad brand." ▫️”I don't care what you think. You're a tribute band." ▫️[About Greg in Swedish] “There’s more of them…6’9 of pure nepotism!” ▫️ “[ATN] is fine but the graph is horrible. It's not complicated. A lot of yelling. Long term, I don't think news for angry old people works. I'd fold it in. Fat pipe that shit. Simple, cheap, huge. Ikea'd to fuck." ▫️”I'm just trying to make you fucking rich." ("Already Rich") ▫️”On the offer, I think I am what I am what I am." ("Ok, Popeye")

there was also one Med Tech professional that was hopping around subreddits and calling BS on Theranos when people posted about Holmes and the company (about two years before WSJ piece)
Reminder that an anonymous Theranos employee discussed the whole fraud (without naming the company) on a popular subreddit years before the WSJ broke the story

LangChain CEO Harrison Chase says his company spends ~30% of engineering salaries on coding tools (and Chase now only codes by messaging an agent from Slack): "I think we spend probably roughly 30% of our engineering salary on coding tools. It's actually gone down the last two months, while the number of tokens that we've used has actually gone up. And we've done this by doing three steps. First is basically just visibility. We tracked all of our coding agent usage to LangSmith, so we could tell who was spending how much, what they were spending it on. We could do analytics over that. Second, is just basic cost controls. We set a budget, and if you hit the budget, you can talk to our VP of engineering and he'll almost always increase it, but it's just a safeguard against agents being used incorrectly or going in a bad loop. Then third, we control the harness. We actually built our own in-house cloud coding agent, Open SWE is what we call it. It's actually the only way I code anymore, because I'm in Slack all the time, so I just message it from Slack and it kicks off.”
