With HS & college football starting, this will be my first fall without a kid to watch from the stands. 🏈
PSA to parents: Start recruiting early. Find the right coaching. Encourage your sons to engage with coaches. Post film & stats. For you, enjoy every snap — you never know which one will be his last.
Ty was a QB since age 4 and became a mostly self-taught punter. We didn’t start recruiting until his senior year and hired an amazing special teams coach
@WGoggans47 midseason his senior year. I worried I screwed him up, but he is a quick learner and he still put up great numbers and drew interest from some big football programs. I’ll always wonder what might have been if we had started earlier and he’d had years with a specialist coach.
Here are 3 videos very similar - HS (Tyler), College and Pro. Each backed up, punting deep from their end zones with great kicks and similar results - ice in their veins and knowing pressure is coming. I know Tyler had a ton of potential and upside and under the right specialist coach in college, I’ll always wonder what might / could have been. Some really big name FCS and FBS schools and coaches showed interest late and I know they had to see the potential otherwise they would not have followed, connected and taken a look.
But Ty chose
@UArkansas and stepped away from football, at least for now. Hearing how much fun he’s having, I know he made the right decision. We’re excited to simply be fans of
@RazorbackFB this fall.
Huge thank you to
@Sallis02 @FentressKicking @BSublet @brendancahill_ for the guidance, honesty, and support throughout Tyler’s recruitment. These guys were a tremendous resource for Tyler and our family.
Still, a dad can hope he misses the game enough to give it another shot someday.
Love ya
@TylerSchuler15. Enjoy Arkansas and all it has to offer.
