Check out our new paper taking the guesswork out of value alignment! We show how to best represent values, and predict cross-value generalization, and build the first taxonomy of LLM values grounded in generalization dynamics.
LLM developers train their models to follow prosocial values, but post-training can influence model behavior in unexpected ways. In “Predicting Alignment Generalization with Value Representations”, we ask whether downstream effects of value alignment can be predicted in advance.

I was glad to speak with @CBC about #AI for Inuktitut, a conversation with broader relevance for low-resource languages. As the world debates the pace of AI development, we need sustained investment in languages that remain underserved by today’s technology. This work should reflect the priorities of the communities it serves. For Indigenous languages, community leadership and data sovereignty are essential. Thank you to Liam Baker for highlighting this important conversation.
