Congratulations to UBC’s 25 new and renewed Canada Research Chairs, announced today as part of the Government of @Canada's announcement of support for science and research. These outstanding researchers will advance knowledge and innovation across a remarkable range of fields, spanning health and wellbeing, cancer, aging and chronic disease, artificial intelligence, climate resilience, oceans and fisheries, advanced materials, among many other topics. Their research is helping deepen knowledge, address complex societal challenges and create new possibilities for healthier communities, more resilient environments and future scientific breakthroughs. Today’s investment also included funding through the New Frontiers in Research Fund – Transformation Program, including two UBC researchers who are Co-PIs on projects led by researchers at other institutions. Collaboration between Canadian research institutions strengthens our national capacity to respond to our most pressing challenges, and we are grateful for these important and ongoing investments by the Government Canada to support the country’s research ecosystem. @UBC @ubcokanagan @TIPS_SPIIE @melaniejoly @kbardeesy
