ففي مختلف مناطق العالم، يتعاون حَمَلة هذا التراث وممارسوه، ومنظمات المجتمع المدني، والمؤسسات الثقافية والأكاديمية، والسلطات الوطنية والمحلية، من أجل صونه ونقله والاحتفاء به.
وتنتقل هذه العناصر من جيل إلى جيل، فتمنح المجتمعات المحلية شعوراً بالاستمرارية والانتماء.
