Religious leaders from across the Busoga sub-region are coming together in Mayuge District for the Regional Interfaith Dialogue under the theme “Faith Communities United to End Teenage Pregnancy, Sexual and Gender-Based Violence, and Child Marriage in Uganda.” Too many girls are losing their education, their health and their futures to early pregnancy, violence and forced marriage. Faith communities can change that from the pulpit, the mosque, and the home. We call on religious leaders to speak out, protect young people and stand together to keep every child safe, in school and free to choose their future. 📅 22nd October 2026 📍 Mayuge District, Busoga Sub-Region #faith4youthhealth

UGANET in the Field | Obongi District Access to justice begins with awareness, information and the opportunity to understand one’s legal options. Ahead of the four-day mobile court session scheduled for October 26-29 in Palorinya Refugee Settlement, Obongi District, UGANET and the Uganda Law Society (ULS) conducted a sensitisation session at Moyo Government Prison. The session informed inmates about the purpose of the mobile court, plea bargaining and reconciliation. Those interested in plea bargaining also held individual consultations with defence counsel to explore possible sentences. To extend awareness beyond the prison, the team joined a radio talk show on Radio Aulogo, featuring representatives from UGANET, ULS, the District Police Commander and Probation and Social Welfare. The discussion addressed questions from refugees and host community members about the upcoming mobile court and the criminal and juvenile justice systems. These preparatory activities aim to ensure that people understand the process, their legal options and the opportunities available to them as the mobile court approaches. #UGANET4SocialJustice

With roughly 3,308 new breast cancer cases diagnosed annually in Uganda, awareness must go beyond a campaign and also must inspire early detection, timely screening and access to care. Let’s speak up, check in and act early. #BreastCancerAwareness #INTERASUSTAIN

UGANET in the Field | Pakwach District From supporting survivors through case follow-ups to challenging harmful cultural practices, UGANET’s work in Pakwach continues to strengthen community responses to sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV). Last week, our team followed up on cases involving survivors and their families, provided support supervision to Community-Based Volunteers (CBVs) and Community Liaison Facilitators (CLFs) involved in case management, participated in two culturally led dialogues targeting girls at Women and Girls’ Safe Spaces (WGSS), and attended a sub-county council meeting. During the dialogues, girls spoke openly about the factors contributing to teenage pregnancies and early marriage. The discussions also helped adolescents understand available referral pathways, while community leaders and participants committed to actions aimed at reducing teenage pregnancies. Our team also participated in an EMAP graduation, where 28 male graduates engaged in discussions on the legal consequences of SGBV. The session challenged harmful practices, including the negotiation of sexual assault cases and child marriages, and reinforced the importance of accountability and protecting survivors’ rights. Beyond these engagements, case follow-ups offered a powerful reminder of why survivor-centred support matters. Survivors and their relatives expressed the need for continued assistance, particularly throughout court processes. UGANET reaffirmed its commitment to supporting them within the scope of its interventions. Meaningful change requires more than raising awareness. It calls for stronger referral systems, community accountability and sustained support for survivors as they seek justice. Here are a few moments from our engagements in Pakwach. #UGANET4SocialJustice
