Lunch in the garden today with this Brimstone feeding on the flowers of Daphne odora aureomarginata.
Perhaps the word 'butterfly' originates from the yellow colour of male Brimstones like this one.

My first butterfly of 2026 on a spring-like Saturday. This Red Admiral emerged from hibernation to bask in the sunshine close to a Daphne odora, the most fragrant 'butterfly bush' of winter/spring. #wildlifegarden@UpperThamesBC@Anna_Dillon

A very enjoyable UTB Members Day and a big thank you to the 4 excellent speakers. Thanks also to all the UTB volunteers working behind the scenes to make the day run smoothly!
Not seen Small Coppers much in my home visits to the Tattenhoe area in recent years, so 5 together today made a great sight, especially being solitary in most of my past sightings here. Also a pristine Brown Argus alongside a few Common Blues yesterday and today. @UpperThamesBC
Clouded Yellows from Yoesden Bank this morning before it got just too scorchio for chasing up and down hillsides like a geriatric lunatic. I went early on purpose to see the Adonis Blues before they got too active in the sunshine, these were a nice bonus
