Citrini Analyst #2 on when robotics will have its ChatGPT moment: "I'm not sure that there will be a moment, but maybe it'll be a mosaic of all of these things." "As they come together, it's very clear that this is happening and accelerating at a rapid pace."
Robotics Tipping Point: The Interview We sat down with Kyle Zinn from @citrini, the team behind the SaaSpocalypse and Hormuz articles that broke the timeline. Citrini's latest field trip took him to robotics factories in the Bay Area to find out where the industry is headed: 00:00 - Intro 04:51 - Field-trip report 07:33 - Robotics' "ChatGPT moment"? 10:35 - The humanoid debate 13:45 - No "light switch" moment 16:31 - ROI is the key 17:43 - How to train a robot 19:59 - Robot school and internships 23:29 - Optimus at Giga Texas 26:23 - OpenAI enters robotics 31:57 - Early real-world deployments 37:23 - Unitree vs. Figure 39:52 - General robots 1-2 years away 41:50 - Humanoid supply-chain trade 44:34 - Bet on manufacturing enablers 48:29 - Supply-chain stocks 50:47 - Figure and Tesla's upside 53:26 - Figure's edge 55:19 - US vs. China 58:58 - Behind the field trip 1:04:15 - Where to invest

I expect much of the value from this decoupling to accrue to private robotics companies in the US
US-CHINA ROBOTICS DECOUPLING BEGINS Bernstein says the FCC ban on new foreign-made mobile robots marks the start of U.S.-China robotics decoupling. Restrictions could expand to AI chips and investments, while China could retaliate through data controls or rare-earth magnets. Potential beneficiaries include Tesla ( $TSLA), Hesai ( $HSAI), Schaeffler ( $SHA:GR), Harmonic Drive ( $6324:JP), Horizon Robotics ( $9660:HK) and Black Sesame ( $2533:HK). Chinese robotics firms may increasingly target non-U.S. markets.

Congratulations to portfolio company @DynaRobotics on the launch of Dyna-2. Pre-trained entirely on human video, Dyna-2 represents a meaningful step toward making physical AI scale more like software, potentially accelerating iteration, improvement and commercial deployment. A significant milestone for Dyna and the broader robotics industry.
Today we are introducing Dyna-2, a world-action model pre-trained on one million hours of human video. At this scale, for the first time, we discovered several new scaling laws: • world-action models exhibit scaling law on human data across four orders of magnitude, from 1000 to 1,000,000 hours, • this human data scaling law implied a scaling law on never seen robot data, • both data and objective matter; world modeling and scaling on video data are essential for cross-embodiment scaling transfer to emerge 🧵

NEW FUNDRAISE RoboStrategy leads Standard Bots' Series C fundraise Follow @evanbeard & @standardbots for future updates
Today, we’re thrilled to announce our $200M Series C funding round at a $1B valuation, led by @RoboStrategy and existing investors including @generalcatalyst. Standard Bots is now America’s largest manufacturer of AI-native industrial robots. Our customers include Sunoco, Lockheed Martin, NASA, and the US Army along with hundreds of other manufacturers across the country. We’re proud to say that we’re on track to deploy 10% of all U.S. industrial robots by next year. We are expanding our Glen Cove, New York facility to 70,000 square feet to scale our vertically integrated production process. We currently design almost all our own parts, including our own actuators, and we assemble every final product in-house. By 2027, we’ll manufacture everything — from metal in to robots out — right here in America. We believe AI-native robots are the essential power tool of the 21st century — the tool that will grow American manufacturing and help every American worker to be a force at work. You just show your robot how it’s done, and it learns through demonstration. No coding, no consultants, just unbox and deploy faster than anything else on the market. Right now it’s possible for the United States to revitalize our manufacturing base if we become the worldwide leader in this transformative technology. We must build American robots, and put them to work in American factories. It’s a national imperative, and it’s our central mission. This fundraise gets us one step closer to the goal. The future of American manufacturing is bright! Join Standard Bots, and show your robot how it’s done — we’re just getting started.
