Medium term budget. Step in right direction definitely. First time since 2008 that debt is not rising. Also primary surplus. Helped by mining company tax. This is always the case. SA is still cyclical, dependent on commodity cycle. Off Grey list is also good news

Well our all share index above 100k for the first time. Quite an occasion! Rand return for 12m around 27% and usd return over 30%, outperforming the main usa markets strongly. Usa markets return between 13% and 16%. This does not happen often so we must enjoy. Can continue?

Well the rand is back to 17.50 against usd. I know a lot of this is dollar weakness as rand still 24 against £ etc. But it has been my view for a long time that rand $ fair value is 17.50
