If anyone is a sicko and likes pass pro, here I do my best to break down Ohio States 5 man protection. From both their install and All-22 film.

The offensive philosophy has evolved from tempo and running a ton of plays to efficiency/NFL/slow pace. You put a ton of trust in your OL/RB’s/TE’s doing that to help hit explosives and move the sticks. That’s not happening. #4 makes that happen.

If #4 can’t make that happen, games like tonight will continue. OL/RB/TE have proved you cannot trust them to execute consistently. You have to adjust and go back to tempo to get more snaps, tempo teams.

Days best offenses have pushed the pace, spread you out, and force you to depend their WR’s. Their best player is their WR. With today’s game (portal) and not having as much time with kids, their current philosophy doesn’t seem to work.

I really don’t understand the lack of tempo Ohio State used in the 2H. The lack of quick game in this program is going to hinder QB development. So many questions to be answered. A lot of this doesn’t make sense.

Get the TE’s off the field. We don’t need them the rest of the season

Pocket nerves for a young Q. He’s setting the pocket too deep and leaving the tackles out to dry. Has to set it at 9 and step up.

Middle wanted to be Brutus. DIY Brutus for the win! @OhioStateFB @OhioState
Oldest decided he wanted to be @ryandaytime for Halloween 😂. 3rd + Medium, 3rd + Long, RZ all was labeled “throw it to @Jermiah_Smith1”

This is sick: #Ravens OC Declan Doyle lined up TE Josh Cuevas at LG, then released him into a route for a 29-yard gain. Because Cuevas was off the line of scrimmage, he was eligible to go downfield. This is brilliant.

Any good Will Stein materials out there? Clinics, YT videos, etc? Good offseason offense to study.

yspace I think there’s a guy on that staff who knows a little about that play.
Pretty cool way that Stein gets to stick. Get the wheel from the backfield, which is a good answer vs man. Back out as the flat route helps widen the force player.

Good morning. When you see a free rusher that's not always on the lineman. Hope you enjoyed my TedTalk.

Ohio State went to 11P 3x1 nub pin/pull. Big fan of trips nub vs a 34 team. Pulls the OLB to trips and makes corners tackle/take on blocks vs run game to the boundary. OL/backs ran it well.

“I think Ohio State is head and shoulders ahead of the next-best Big Ten team.” Rival coaches on how Jeremiah Smith—and QB Julian Sayin—are playing at a ridiculously high level right now: Gift link: nytimes.com/athletic/7675374…

The Delaware Wing-T is not a formation. It is not simply buck sweep or sally or belly. It is a complete SYSTEM. It is a high octane, in your face, make defenders question their life choices, sniper precision, waltz of warfare… and we LOVE IT. Arthur Smith was the best hire of the offseason and it’s not even close. He’s been able to scheme 4 open better than anyone on that staff. The organization of the offense is very evident on film.

Parker has had to throw the kitchen sink at OSU in a way that is uncharacteristic of Iowa and even though that’s generated some negative plays, even that hasn’t really worked.

Passing game is going to carry this team. It’s already showing you how it’s helping the run game.
