We are deeply concerned by the intimidation of students in Hasakah by masked groups carrying sticks and sharp objects and making beheading gestures. These scenes echo the brutality of ISIS, which our people paid a heavy price to defeat. The students were simply asking for their right to be educated in their mother tongue. We call on the relevant authorities to ensure their safety and hold those responsible accountable. Education in one's mother tongue is a right protected under international law.
