Hi @TicketmasterUK I’ve ordered some theatre tickets but there’s a typo in my email so haven’t received the confirmation. Help!

Make it not so. 🥺
Legendary actor Sir Patrick Stewart, best known for his roles as Jean-Luc Picard in Star Trek and Professor X in X-Men, has died. He was 86.

Isn’t it time to review the council tax bands? I’m a high earner living in a 1-bed flat in Zone 2 - London. I don’t need the £100, although it will be lovely to have with the cost of living as it is. Have any recent governments suggested updating the bands? #budget26

My ferry back from the Isle of Wight has stopped to do a “man over board” drill and the excitement among the passengers is palpable. Everyone, young and old, crowded around the windows watching, pointing and discussing what’s happening. It’s times like these that I love people.

There’s a reason the great dystopian novels envision a world without literacy. Those books warned about the very age we’re now living in. Those who abandon reading & writing are surrendering their powers of thinking. What’s shocking is that so many would surrender so readily.
We're about to enter a period where not reading or writing becomes as ubiquitous as smoking once was. We can hope people will eventually realize this is bad for them, as they did with smoking. But this is far from certain; the cost may not be as obvious.

Oxford Street pedestrianised yesterday and, inevitably, 24 hours later, huge queues at the ferry port on the Isle of Wight. Thanks a lot, Sadiq.

I set off with a work problem niggling at the back of my tiny mind. Didn't think about it consciously at all. Saw the hills, the birds, the river, the trees, the clouds, the fish, the sheep, the cows, the sun, the rain. Then I remembered my problem, and I'd also found an answer.

When the Oxford children's dictionary discarded dozens of nature-words—"dandelion," "fern," "starling"—as irrelevant to children's imagination and replaced them with words like "broadband" and "cut-and-paste," this inspired act of resistance was born: themarginalian.org/2019/06/1…

Christmas time on Oxford Street has always been hell. At least this year there is more space for pedestrians to spread out.
As someone who works in Oxford street, I hate this idea! Terrible for people who need accessibility and cannot walk long distances. Also Christmas time is going to be HELL!

If you respect a child’s “no” when they don’t want a hug, you’re more likely to be the person they run to when they need one most.

Children don’t owe you a hug - they ARE allowed to choose. And loving grandparents understand that and don’t make it in to a big issue.
An ad encouraging grandparents to get consent before hugging their grandchildren has been pulled following backlash "Having loving grandparents in a child’s life is an incredibly positive thing to be cherished and not something to be campaigned against"
