The Twenty Days of Turin, Giorgio de Maria, tr. Ramona Glazov. Accidentally well-timed Oct reading and really enjoyable. Essay at the end fit well with the music writing I have been consuming more of lately. See myself picking this up again

The Fat Man and Infinity, António Lobo Antunes, tr. Margaret Jull Costa. Collection newspaper writings (crónicas). I peppered in a few at a time while reading longer works and loved this different view of the writing of Antunes

The Alchemy of Meth - A Decomposition by Jason Pine. A really quick 200 pages but among my favorite reads of the year. I was expecting to dislike this but now expect I will read his other ethnographic work on musicians in Naples.

Kaputt by Curzio Malaparte, tr. Cesare Foligno. Definitely a favorite of the year. Hopefully following it up with The Skin in the near future.

Volcanic Tongue: A Time-Travelling Evangelist's Guide to Late 20th-Century Underground Music by David Keenan. Incredible collection. Having read two of his novels, I can really see how this writing style plays into the fiction in the best of ways. Hoping for another of these....

Struggling to choose among these beach reads for a trip to Italy. I am 100 pages into Kaputt and its probably going to be a favorite read of the year at this rate.
