Kenyans, Africans, it is the highest duty in Utu to bring down the colonial borders. Setting out against so-called illegal or undocumented immigrants is unmitigated ignorance against who each and all of us are. It is upholding the one colonial legacy that keeps brother away from brother, sister away from sister and Africa eons in darkness. Dismantle the borders and let us move; spread the light of African brotherhood, shine the light that throws away the darkness of colonialism and imperialism. Spread #UtuNow Embrace every African brother. The River Must Flow!

One of the hills I’m willing to die on is that African countries need to look more at countries like Brazil, Mexico, Cuba and even the Indian state of Kerala when designing their health care and social protection systems.. and avoid mimicking the West ..🤔🤔

Another one of Babuwagons hiccups on the highway mercifully led Babu to this beautiful chance encounter with a veteran musician he used to see on stage in his youth; Isaya Mureithi, lastly with the Forvics Band at the Hillock Inn in Nairobi's then bustling Industrial Area. Now an unheralded village one-man guitar musician going by the stage name etched on his guitar, Man Muree, Mureithi asks you to give a little something for a number down memory lane and he doesn't disappoint. That's how Babu was treated to a song of his childhood, "Muiritu wa Ngirigacha" which loosely translated was about Lucy, the village belle who shone in her beauty and modernity (ngirigacha) in rural post-colonial Central Kenya. The old guitarist's strumming wiped off Babu's agonising moments with Babuwagon in little Naromoru town's version of 'Grogon'.

So this is the note at which Babu ended the hike along the SACRED VALLEY on Mt Kenya as the Utu Heritage and it's partner communities unveiled the Mt Kenya West, Nanyuki leg of the Mt Kenya Utu Heritage Tourism Circuit on Mashujaa Day.

Some places are not just meant to be visited. They are meant to be experieced. Porini Nature Sanctuary, Nanyuki, is a place to reconnect with nature, breath the fresh air of Mt Kenya and remember that our wellness is inseparable from the natural world. This is Utu and WE are bringing Porini back to life💪

The law has spoken. Now let it be enforced. The Aberdares are not just trees. They are water, livelihoods, the past and the present generations of Kenyans. Protecting a forest is protecting The People. We know responsibility, now let`s show it.

At the Sabaki Estuary, I see women who refuse to surrender to difficult circumstances. But resilience should not become an excuse for society to ignore their struggles. These women deserve opportunities, infrastructure and a fair chance to prosper. These women are doing more than fighting for their livelihood. They are protecting a way of life. @ kefs_kenya @UtuHeritage @UNESCO @GROOTSKenya

Post humously appreciating Prime Minister Raila Odinga for helping save the Kongo River Mosque from the invaders and landgrabbers who targeted it, even partially demolished the centuries old national heritage. After his morning runs Babu has been praying in the masjid that was put up by Muslim faithfuls after the demolition and the court battle the late statesman sponsored. Thank you Baba. Thank you @PaulMMwangi for leading the legal battle to save the mosque. Heaven recorded your actions.

Babu couldn't help marveling at the courage and determination of the brave women of the Sabaki Estuary in Malindi, who are determined to make it against heavy odds. The 23 members of the Sabaki River Fisherwomen's Group who for years have braved the marauding hippopotamus resident at the point where the Sabaki - or Athi River upcountry - enters the Indian Ocean near Malindi, are an inspiration to watch. After receiving a water pump and a 5000 litre tank from his Utu Heritage Community Partnerships Development Agency, the women themselves and their patron Dominic Kiplagat Kene assembled the pipes and kicked it to life to water their mangrove treelings undeterred by the presence of the hippos resting in the waters just a few meters away, at the foot of Camp Gedeng, a nature park Kene founded to save the hippos and provide alternative livelihoods for residents who were preying on the giant mammals. The Hippo Academy at Camp Gedeng has partnered with the Sabaki women and the Utu Heritage in their community social enterprises that include mangrove farming, fisheries, organic gardening, poultry and basketry and environmental conservation. Many congratulations to Navi Pillay on being awarded the Nobel Peace Prize, a fitting recognition of a lifetime devoted to human rights and justice around the world. It comes on the same day the Trump Administration has imposed sanctions on the International Criminal Court. Navi’s life’s work shows why international justice matters, above all to the victims and survivors of the gravest crimes, who so often have nowhere else to turn. I have known and admired Navi for decades, as a lawyer, a judge and the UN’s human rights chief. As a judge at the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda, she sat on the case that made history as the first-ever conviction for sexual violence as an act of genocide under international law. At the International Court of Justice, she sat as a judge in the case brought by The Gambia against Myanmar over the genocide of the Rohingya. Her most recent work has continued that pursuit of justice for victims of genocide. In 2025, as chair of the UN Commission of Inquiry on the Occupied Palestinian Territory and Israel, she found that Israel had committed genocidal acts against Palestinians in Gaza. No one is more deserving of this prize, and no moment could make clearer why the work Navi has led is so important and so necessary.
BREAKING NEWS The Norwegian Nobel Committee has decided to award the 2026 #NobelPeacePrize to Navanethem “Navi” Pillay for her efforts to promote peace and international law. #NobelPrize

When Babu walks, he listens... At Tswaka, Shimoni, Kilifi County, Al Amin walks on land connected to the stories of Mekatilili wa Menza, a woman whose courage, resistance and leadership continue to remind us what it means to stand up for our people and for our freedom. This is the proposed site of the Utu Heritage Mekatilili Nature Park.... For Babu, it is more than just a park. It is about keeping Mekatilili's spirit and fire alive through history, nature and culture. Her story shoulld not just be remembered, it has to be experiencced, lived and carried forward. This is Utu. Follow our journey.

Shame on us. We have built a country where a child can know the names of a foreign footballer but not the name of the river that passes through their village. Then wonder why we are losing the connection of place. What are YOU doing as the daughters and sons of our land to change this?
