In 2017, I started learning Go, mostly from curiosity. After working some years for Mattermost, I learnt enough to start sharing that knowledge with the community. Today I’m honored to share that I’ve been recognized as a @GoogleDevExpert in Go.
This wouldn’t have happened without a lot of people involved in my own process, from the extremely welcoming Go community, to my companies, @kaleidosnet, @Mattermost, @ona_hq, and now @VictoriaMetrics, that has been always supportive and helping me to contribute back to the community.
The GDE program is about sharing knowledge, so, there is not going to change much from my side, except that I'll have even more support to keep sharing with you what I learn in Go.

Throwback to September, when I spoke at GopherCon Latam in Brazil 🇧🇷 Afterwards, I gave a short interview about why I gave this talk again and whether Go's principle of writing code for the reader, not the writer, still matters when AI is writing most of the code.
🚨 PiG 0.5.0 is out 🐷
This release took a while, and I am very happy with it. Version 0.5.0 covers all of Pi's interfaces on Pi 1.3.0. Out performs PiG 0.4.1 in every measurement. Piglets can now change PiG itself and you choose how lean PiG is.

When I started my Piscine at @Zone01Kisumu his book was one of the major boost that helped me try and learn Go.
It was search a great experience listening to @alextrending at @gophers_africa.

🔒 Before you replace a lock, profile it and find where the contention really is.
In @alextrending benchmark, 98.78% of the delay showed up at sync.(*Mutex).Unlock, because waiters add the delay and Unlock gets the stack.

📓 "Automate execution, use AI to support judgment, and keep humans responsible for consequential decisions."
@tonialaribe at #GopherConAfrica2026 on Runbooks That Think.
Make incident response more efficient without giving AI unchecked control over production systems.

📱 p95 latency of 5.8 to 15.7 seconds before optimization.
Paul Okeke and Peter Dada from @moniepoint at #GopherConAfrica2026 on where a tap's time actually goes.
Fewer round trips. Shorter round trips. Smaller payloads. And rejecting bad requests at the edge.
🤖 A rule the agent has to remember is a suggestion. A rule with a test is something it can check on its own.
@_bigzoo at #GopherConAfrica2026 on invariants as the new interface.
Balanced, atomic, exact, append-only, monotonic IDs. Five ledger rules, five tests.

Our MCs are ready, the speakers are lined up, and the room is filling up.
Let's finish strong.

📦 Docker isn't magic. It's Linux primitives assembled together.
@GreatDharmatma at #GopherConAfrica2026 on building a container runtime from scratch in Go.
Namespaces, cgroups, and the OS features that make it all work.

@t_starkx : sagas with Temporal, compensation registered first.
Toluwase: synctest, testing a 10 minute delay without waiting 10 minutes.
@alextrending : a good lock is a policy, not just a loop.
ESHU: standardize the path to production, not how every team writes code.
