Yes! This is the genius of @altcap and @MichaelDell building this structure - direct transfers with no grift industrial complex leeching on these wonderful gifts! It has been hilarious watching Current Thing people scrambling to make this a bad thing.
If more billionaires do this, Brad Gerstner could ultimately be responsible for the biggest mass generational wealth transfer in the history of humanity… without taxes or bureaucracy. Changing the trajectory of America and making capitalism work for everyone 👏🏾

This is so insightful. We are holding ourselves back from the universe’s truths because of a baboon brain designed to find joy i simplicity.

Even if you want wealth people to donate more of their wealth (and you should) immediately complaining that” this is not enough” is dumb . We should laud generosity and encourage folks to do more with positive reinforcement! Regardless of how you feel about him, this is a significant gift - thank you @elonmusk!
Next year, I will give one of my SpaceX shares to every kid in America. This will be the first of many.

As always his statement is more nuanced (and correct). For the supercar folks, the power to weight trade off isn’t there yet. He’s right about his segment!

……. Just horrific from end to end. Everyone in Eagles management who knew about this, or was responsible for those who knew about this, should be fired and thrown out of football forever. Are you fucking kidding me.
#Eagles QB Jalen Hurts, who is out for the season after several blood clots were revealed in his lungs, has been undergoing tests for days. Before the London game, Hurts was in the hospital until 4 am and did not sleep because sleep was a risk. He played without having slept.

hmmmmmmmmm - i'm not exactly abandoning PPT/Google Slides but ... the Claude slide editor <-> comment loop is good. Pretty pretty pretty good. (still lacks niceties, like auto-vertical/center, align objects, etc, but i just tell the AI to do it)

These are all great points and absolutely true. I tear up every time they anything related to rockets taking off, landing, etc. cool shit is just cool and inspiring
I’ve spent a few days thinking about the Tesla Roadster reveal and landed somewhere I haven’t seen much discussion. I’m neither a Tesla fanboy nor a Tesla hater. And I couldn’t care less whether what we saw technically qualifies as a flying car. Three takeaways: (1) The risk of that live demonstration going horribly wrong was real. Almost no CEO would willingly expose their company to that kind of public humiliation for a product with so little financial upside. Elon did. (2) That willingness to attempt the seemingly impossible is what makes Tesla special. It’s also arguably Elon’s greatest contribution to America. He’s helped bring back something we’ve lost. The American spirit of chasing big scary ideas that most people think are impossible. That mindset is spreading across a new generation of founders and its long term impact on America’s future could dwarf anything Tesla ever sells. I think this is deeply underappreciated. (3) Can we just acknowledge how insanely cool that moment was? We’ve reached a strange place culturally where even extraordinary feats of human ingenuity immediately become arguments about why they don’t count. Not everything needs to be a debate. Sometimes we should just be able to stand back together and marvel at what humans are capable of. I’ve been both bullish and critical of Tesla’s ambitions over the years. But watching Elon and his team push the boundaries of what’s possible reminds me why I’m glad we have him. Whether the Roadster ever makes Tesla a dollar or impacts $TSLA stock price is almost beside the point. We need more people willing to risk failure in pursuit of things the rest of us think are impossible. Because when they succeed we all win.

I did a review with directors the day after thanksgiving of the 78th (I versioned them, I know) version of a PRFAQ I owned, where we spent 9 minutes (I counted) debating if the right word in the second paragraph was “quick” or “fast”. This is not an exaggeration.
The PR/FAQ/6-pager process was 70% performative bullshit anyway. Too many leaders punting decisions until someone wrote a “perfect” doc, completely ignoring Bezos’s “70%” guidance. Circles of reviews dragging out weeks at the VP level. I can’t imagine how the mechanism survives now.

Setting aside the message, I don’t think that in football each team play wants to play in their own end zone? It’s a weird metaphor.

notice.. > Delta is blocking AI agents from booking flights > JPMorgan Chase and Charles Schwab block agents from accessing accounts > Yelp requires paid data licensing for agents > Amazon has blocked Grok bot and other shopping agents. the internet is starting to block AI agents that were supposed to do everything for us

When I was a kid, firemen were like gods. As pure as humanity had to offer, running into danger to save their fellow man. They still have that soul in them, ready to defy every survival instinct, so that others may live. But the danger is an anachronism; a legacy from when our towns were made of pine and pitch, on the verge of burning at the slightest spark. Like so many historical artifacts, the choices that put them in danger do not feel romantic but absurd, making us question how we ever thought that putting them in the path of the flame as the best solution for our collective negligence. And now, through no fault of their own, these heroes sit idle, with courage and selflessness unspent. An echo of a prior age - beautiful, noble, and yet out of place in the modern world.
Were You Aware: SF Fire Department has a budget of $550M (2025). That year, it counted 6,550 fires, mostly outside, with only 300 fires in buildings that year. That means we could just Abolish The Fire Department and when your building burns down, give you $2M!
