Imagine if there was a modestly funded and rigorously fact based lobby group in the UK which corrected the deluge of nonsense anti EV and renewables stories the old press churn out every minute.

This is really important to understand. The best uses of renewable energy to reduce CO2 are, replace Coal Power stations, Run an EV to replace Diesel, and run a heat pump to replace a gas boiler. Making green hydrogen and green e-fuels are not even close!
