I find this specific combined attitude to US politics increasingly baffling. Far better to have a country with some citizens like Medhi Hasan and some politicians elected like Donald Trump than neither.

"I shouldn't have to live with any scoundrel or jingoist at all, for it is an offense to citizenship and democracy itself" is an enormously self-pitying worldview to carry around at all times. Just accept that people are annoying sometimes. This ultimatum is too much.

D+5 generic ballot, which is fun, also quite broad agreement on what would explain GOP loss of Congress if it happens. Just 12% of Republicans selected not passing the SAVE Act.

Part of left-wing Zoomer hatred of billionaires is aesthetic. Fiscal success should bring gratitude, shown by talking and dressing seriously. While their politics have the wisdom of a caveman bashing in the skull of his neighbor for finding wild blueberries, it's a valid point.
NYT style is recommending tie-less suits with dress sneakers to disown the cons. Bleak.

Medicaid is a $900bn/yr program and we have very little idea of where the money is going. Its long term care benefit has 5 main, largely mutually exclusive, eligibility pathways, and there's essentially no data on the breakdown of enrollment or spending by each.

Ezra Klein had this recent interview where he kept saying actually thoughtful things about how politics and aesthetics are interacting and the guest who is supposed to know more about style is flexible on any look and says "I think it's REALLY about power." Straight out of 2017.

I think Harvey Mansfield gets it. It's actually about admiration. Which then makes gratitude possible.

In other words, there is a sense in which a better night for Dems -> center-left elites deem energy politics vindicated -> correlates positively with doing the lame duck permitting reform.

Of course, long-time followers already know which party you should vote for in the House to get the abundance agenda:
Yes, predictable and funny. Expect more of this next year. On the other hand, the one example of Abundance legislation he praises in the book (Building Chips in America Act) required most GOP votes + large minority of Dem votes to pass House. (It was unanimous in the Senate.)

There's a case to be made that if Democrats shift the non-college white margin a bit, this will actually push them towards BAAJA, because it shows lowering the climate change politics works on the margin with this group.
