How to work on velo on lighter days🔑
A big misconception is that you need to rip every day to improve velocity.
“Force the body to adapt,” they say.
The issue is that you can’t sustain this type of intensity very frequently without running your arm into the ground - and the limiting factor for velocity is often a timing/sequencing issue, not a neurological output issue.
What this means is that moderate-effort “flick” days can help train velocity even more than max-effort days in some cases.
This doesn’t mean to ignore high-output days at specific times throughout the year - but the high frequency, high intensity approach is not only unnecessary, it brings with it significantly higher risks over time as you constantly ride the line of maximum recoverable volume.
Don’t sleep on flick days.
