One of the most impactful conversations I had during Boston Blockchain Week was with Ian Cain, Co-Founder and Executive Chairman of QUBIC Labs.
QUBIC Labs, a Quincy, Massachusetts-based nonprofit startup incubator and innovation hub focused on blockchain and digital infrastructure, was responsible for holding Boston Blockchain Week. The organization supports entrepreneurs building at the intersection of financial technology, public infrastructure, and real-world adoption.
I shared something I’ve experienced firsthand through our street interviews in Boston: there can be full days where we’re talking to people who know nothing about the industry, don’t trust it, or simply don’t understand how blockchain can enhance their everyday lives.
Through this conversation, Ian explains that rather than asking people to understand blockchain first, it’s about creating real-world applications people can stand behind & connect to naturally within their own local communities.
And so the question lies:
To increase adoption, how do we introduce blockchain through things people already connect with on a local and civic level?
QUBIC Labs is working to answer that question. That’s why conversations like this with Ian are so important. They challenge us to think beyond the technology, focus on action, & bring blockchain tech into the world - in very real ways.
