Representing #OH5 in the U.S. Congress. Deputy Whip. Member of @HouseCommerce and Chair of the Energy Subcommittee.

#OTD in 1797, the USS Constitution was launched in Boston, Massachusetts. One of the U.S. Navy’s first ever frigates, it is now the United States’ oldest commissioned warship still afloat. Throughout its 229-year existence, the ship has played a major role in several historic wars and battles. In the War of 1812, the Constitution was under the command of Captain Isaac Hull when it triumphed against a British frigate whose cannons could not penetrate the oak sides of the U.S. frigate. From then on, the Constitution had solidified itself in American history with the nickname of Old Ironsides. In addition, the bolts holding the copper sheathing onto the hull of the ship were manufactured by none other than Paul Revere. You can still see the frigate today at its docking location in Charlestown Navy Yard in Boston.

#OTD in 1781, British Lieutenant-general Charles Cornwallis surrendered at Yorktown, Virginia to the Continental Army, led by General George Washington. The Siege of Yorktown lasted three weeks and was the final major land engagement of the Revolutionary War. Cornwallis’ surrender turned the tide of the conflict and set in motion the end of the war. We remember this symbolic day 245 years later, and we honor the bravery of our forefathers who fought with courage for American Independence.

Our nation made a commitment to Americans who paid into Social Security, that Social Security would be there for them when they retired. Social security has been there for Americans since it's enactment in 1935. I commend the recent announcement made by the Social Security Administration that the annual cost-of-living adjustment will be 3.6%, because this money will help seniors who are burdened by rising costs. ssa.gov/blog/en/posts/2026-1…

I was honored to deliver the keynote address in East Liberty at the Ohio Chamber’s Future Forum event focused on autonomous vehicles last week. From the traffic light to the self starter, Ohio has led the world in transportation and historically has played a major role in the evolution of this industry. Autonomous vehicles are the next chapter of this transformation, and it must be written here in Ohio. chroniclet.com/news/477218/r…

On #NationalFarmersDay, I’m proud to honor the many hardworking producers in Ohio’s Fifth Congressional District who devote their time and efforts to feeding Ohio and the country. OH-5 is the largest agriculture income producing district in the state of Ohio, and there’s no doubt that this is due to our dedicated farmers. Thank you for all you do for our state and the United States of America.

It was great to see the Savannah River Site (SRS) in South Carolina recently, where the Department of Energy is taking on the federal government's statutory responsibility to clean up nuclear waste. Seeing the site's comprehensive process for safe disposal, and watching the expert professionals who operate this facility has given me even further confidence in our ability as a nation to handle complex energy waste issues. With tremendous support for nuclear power, it's critical that we continue to focus on generating more affordable, and reliable power in efficient and safe ways.

On October 7, we remember the more than 1,200 innocent men, women, and children in Israel who were brutally killed, captured, and tortured by Hamas. As we reflect on this horrible tragedy from three years ago, we stand with the families who mourn the loss of friends and loved ones and condemn the appalling terrorism that took their lives with a renewed pledge to fight antisemitism and the violence that comes with it wherever they exist. Today’s anniversary is a somber reminder that Israel is the only democracy in the Middle East and our strongest ally in the region. It is critically important that the United States continue to stand with Israel and defend its right to exist in the face of opposition from shared adversaries abroad.

On National Manufacturing Day, it’s important that we take the time to honor and recognize the millions of Americans who work in manufacturing and build vital products and components here in the United States. Our country is a manufacturing powerhouse, and in Ohio’s Fifth Congressional District, I’m proud that we are home to more than 1,000 manufacturing businesses that employ more than 86,000 hardworking Ohioans. I visit these facilities all the time, and it’s amazing to see the production going on at each facility. From programming to robotic machinery, our highly skilled manufacturing professionals are building America’s future, and I’m grateful for their devotion to innovation. Thanks to new investments, comprehensive workforce development programs, and a focus on strengthening domestic supply chains, we’re seeing an increase in American manufacturing activity across the country. As Chairman of the Energy Subcommittee on Energy and Commerce, I will continue to champion policies that provide affordable, reliable energy to support small and large manufacturers in Northern Ohio and across our country.

An all-of-the-above strategy to maintain American energy dominance is a priority. We must continue to produce as much reliable, affordable energy as possible to ensure success and security for the future of our country.
Congratulations @boblatta for scoring a 100% on the American Energy Scorecard! Thank you for being a champion for American energy! americanenergyalliance.org/2…

Ohio's unemployment rate dropped to 3.3% for the month of August, staying below the national average. Our state's economy continues to make gains in numerous industries thanks to Republican led policies that have allowed businesses and people to succeed. This is welcome news. businessjournaldaily.com/ohi…

Today, the House passed the Ratepayer Protection Act to ensure that hardworking, American families aren’t footing the bill for higher energy prices caused by data centers. As Chair of the Energy Subcommittee on the House Energy and Commerce Committee, I was proud to support this bill led by @repgabeevans because the goal is straightforward: data centers should pay their way. In the race to beat Communist China, this is not a choice between American innovation and affordable, reliable energy. We can, and must, have both. I urge the Senate to take up this bill and send it to the President’s desk.
American families should not be the ones paying for data centers' electricity usage. @BobLatta spoke on the House floor today in support of the Ratepayer Protection Act, which helps to protect families and communities from rising costs while allowing innovation to continue.

The Nuclear REFUEL Act would simplify the licensing process to make it simpler to recycle spent nuclear fuel. Watch @BobLatta highlight the importance of an abundant nuclear fuel supply to deploy advanced nuclear reactors and bring more affordable and reliable power to the American People.

Perrysburg native and author, Douglas Brinkley, gave an informative talk about Commodore Perry's Lake Erie victory over the British fleet in 1813.  The event was hosted by the Ohio State Parks Foundation, and it was held at historic Ohio National Guard Camp Perry where visitors were able to see firsthand the facility’s importance to our nation’s defense.  Thank you to all our service members and veterans who have kept our nation free. #OhioNationalGuard #OhioDepartmentofNaturalResources #OhioStateParksFoundation #DouglasBrinkley
