We were glad to have you. Thank you for taking the time to inform our members about these important land-use processes. One of many collaborations!
We’re committed to helping community boards navigate New York City's land use review process, and that's exactly what we did this week in the Bronx! Glad to join @BronxBP for an updated training that will help members make effective and informed recommendations.

The Bronx deserves expanded, equitable access to our city’s waterfront. I support exploring opportunities to expand ferry service to the West Bronx and Northern Manhattan, including a potential expansion into City Island. As Council Members @ShaunAbreu, @CnDelarosa, and @A_StevensD16 highlighted in their recent @CityAndStateNY opinion piece, ferry service can provide residents with additional transportation options, improve waterfront access, and connect communities to jobs, businesses, and other opportunities. Thank you to the New York City Council for pushing this conversation forward. cityandstateny.com/opinion/2…

⛈️⛈️⛈️ Strong thunderstorms could move through the city as a cold front crosses NYC. The forecast shows winds picking up around 3 p.m., with the main storm window from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and possible gusts of 40 to 60 mph that could bring down tree branches. According to the forecast, the highest chance of severe storms is expected in western parts of the city. Before any storm, it’s always a good idea take the following steps: Secure loose items on balconies, rooftops, and patios. Charge your phone and devices. If you hear thunder, go inside and move away from windows. Gusty winds are expected to continue Saturday morning, with gusts of 30 to 35 mph and much cooler temperatures. Get alerts: text NOTIFYNYC to 692-692 or visit nyc.gov/notifynyc. Report downed trees to 311, and call 911 if anyone is in danger.

Our Allerton community still mourns the loss of our sister and neighbor, Nathaly Ramirez. A young mother who was senselessly taken from us and whose story has weighed on all of our hearts. What happened to Nathaly should never have happened, and it is up to us to ensure it doesn’t happen to another one of our community members. Thank you to the 49th Precinct Clergy Council, the Allerton Homeowners Association, We All Really Matter, my colleagues in government and faith leaders for joining us in prayer and solidarity for Nathaly’s family and our Allerton community.

Yesterday’s vigil, hosted by @bronxbp, was more than remembrance. It was a call for justice and action. We mourn Nathaly Ramirez, but mourning is not enough. We must confront domestic violence and protect those at risk.

Our office has been made aware of very concerning ICE activity and a shooting in the Marble Hill neighborhood. We are awaiting additional information and urge our residents to exercise caution.  If you need immigration legal assistance in New York City:  ➡️ Call the NYC Mayor’s Office of Immigrant Affairs at 800-354-0365 or call 311 and say “Immigration Legal.” If someone is detained:  ➡️Contact a trusted immigration attorney or call the MOIA hotline for assistance. ➡️Visit nyc.gov/site/immigrants/lega… for multilingual resources and additional guidance. We are a proud borough of immigrants, and ICE has no place here in our neighborhoods. As we receive additional information, we will share it with our community as we demand accountability and transparency.

Three years later, we remember the lives stolen and the families forever changed by the horrific attacks of October 7th. We mourn the more than 1,200 Jewish families, seniors, and neighbors who were killed and remember the 251 people who were taken hostage by Hamas. We continue to stand with our Jewish families and loved ones who carry this pain everyday. There can be no justification for attacks on civilians, the taking of hostages, or the suffering of innocent people. Three years later, our shared humanity demands that we continue working toward a future where Israelis and Palestinians can live in dignity, freedom, peace and safety.

On behalf of the Bronx LGBTQIA+ Task Force and myself, we extend our deepest condolences and prayers of comfort, healing, and strength to Grace’s family, friends, colleagues, loved ones, and the countless individuals whose lives she touched over the years. May Grace’s memory be a blessing, and may we honor her legacy by continuing the work she championed so fiercely, ensuring that future generations benefit from the path she helped forge. Her impact will continue to be felt throughout the Bronx and far beyond for years to come.

Our hearts are with the family and loved ones affected by this heartbreaking tragedy following this morning’s incident at 2550 Olinville Avenue. We mourn the loss of the 23-year-old woman who succumbed to her injuries at the hospital after falling from the building’s 15th-floor terrace. We are praying for their family as the baby remains in critical condition and hoping for their recovery during this incredibly difficult time.

Happy 50th Anniversary to the Jewish Community Relations Council of New York! JCRC-NY’s work connecting the Jewish community with government and community leaders is becoming increasingly more important as political polarization and antisemitism rise around us.

What a ride! 🚴🏽‍♀️🚴🏽‍♂️ This past Sunday, we pedaled through history at the 32nd Annual Tour de Bronx, one of New York City’s largest FREE biking events! PIX11’s very own James Ford kicked us off at the launch, and from there, thousands of riders took to the streets across three routes: 10 miles, 25 miles, and 40 miles. From City Island and Orchard Beach to Woodlawn Cemetery, Riverdale, and Mott Haven, riders experienced some of the Bronx’s most beautiful neighborhoods, parks, waterfronts, and points of interest before crossing the finish line at the New York Botanical Garden. A huge thank you to our incredible sponsors, partners, volunteers, and everyone who came out to ride with us. Without your support, the Tour de Bronx wouldn’t be possible. Here’s to another unforgettable ride through our borough! 🚴🏽‍♂️💙💛
