We back legends in the making

We have two exciting announcements today as Cantos turns 10… First, we closed our new fund earlier this year. Canto IV is a $70M fund purpose-built to lead pre-seed and seed rounds. We oversubscribed, wanting to keep it right-sized for being a founder's most aligned first partner. Second, we launched our new look with help from our friends at @asimov_co! Cantos is so-named as an ode to epic poems, where grand stories are written in "cantos" rather than chapters. We view founders as the protagonists of today's epics and seek to back those whose deeds become the stuff of legend. Our new website is a testament to the scale of their ambitions, with visions from a future they will have shaped. Resonat in Æternum 🖋️

Access made TIME’s Best Inventions of 2026. Turns out making water can be cool! Really proud of the @VitalLyfe team and all the hard work that got us here 🤘🏼🌊
Access was included in TIME’s Best Inventions of 2026 list! #TIMEBestInventions “We focused on building a beautiful product that’s easy to use and affordable. If someone sees Access sitting on a table, we want them to ask, ‘What’s that?’ It’s awesome to see TIME recognize all the hard work that’s gone into it. Really proud of our team.” - Jon Criss, Co-Founder + CEO To compile this year's list, TIME solicited nominations from its editors and correspondents around the world through an online application process, paying special attention to growing fields such as health care and AI. TIME then evaluated each contender on a number of key factors, including originality, efficacy, ambition, and impact. "By putting water production into the hands of individuals and communities, decentralized infrastructure can make access to water more resilient and more universal. Access is just the beginning of that future.” - Andrew Harner, Co-Founder + COO See the full list of TIME’s Best Inventions here: ti.me/best-inventions

Deterrence depends on systems that can be produced in sufficient numbers, quickly, and affordably. We've designed Blackbeard with production in mind from the start. Thanks to @specialreport for the coverage.

Archer is deployed by US troops worldwide. In this exercise off the coast of Okinawa, Japan, Marines with 3rd Battalion 7th Marine Regiment launched our FPV drones from Multi-Mission Reconnaissance Craft-B, a 40-foot tactical littoral recon watercraft. These maritime drone operations unlock new capabilities for sea-to-shore operations.

Have we mentioned we love hardware?
Last month at Camp Shelby, U.S. Army Soldiers took the controls of a TugVolt, switching real military cargo between spurs without a locomotive as part of a technology assessment during Operation Sentinel Justice. Watch the recap:

Sovereign connectivity is essential. Astranis is providing it.
Your network. Your decisions. With a sovereign network, Astranis owns and flies the satellite while you control everything running over it: routing, priorities, coverage allocation, ground infrastructure, and encryption keys. You get full control without building a space program. Download our white paper, The New Rules of Sovereign Connectivity, to learn more.

One of our closest held beliefs @Cantos is that the path towards greatness in hardware land is on the other side of deep, intense focus. We call it FFS. Focus First, Scale second. Do one thing, do it incredibly well, and if you do, then you earn the right to advance to other products and domains. It’s an iron law of hardware. And we think it's one of the best ways to build defense companies.

Another $468M for sovereign satcom 🇺🇸
Today Astranis announces a $468 million credit facility from @EximBankUS The financing will ramp domestic production of our next-generation GEO satellites and expand our capacity to build and operate satellites in the U.S. as we meet growing global demand for sovereign, dedicated connectivity. "Maintaining American leadership in space requires the capital to build fast and deliver at scale. This financing is a huge vote of confidence in Astranis to do that." - @Gedmark, Astranis CEO and Cofounder

Spoke with @tectonicdefense @barratt_dewey about building America’s first biology prime @pilgrimlabs
☣️ The US is dramatically underprepared to detect biological threats at the speed they spread. CA-based @pilgrimlabs, run by 22-year-old @jakeadler, raised $25M to scale production of its airborne pathogen detection system that aims to change that. 🔗 @barratt_dewey has the full story at the link below.

Neros was the only company to be selected on both missions in Drone Dominance. This secured us a $100M order that we are ready to deliver on rapidly. We're hiring- come join the winning team.
Neros has officially received a $100 million order for 14,000 drones and explosive payloads from the @DeptofWar for our performance in Drone Dominance Gauntlet II. We’ve also received a second bonus order for an additional 800 drones tied to Gauntlet I, reallocated from other competitors who couldn’t meet the production deadline for their orders. Gauntlet II orders are split between Archer AI, our flagship autonomy-enabled 10” drone, and Archer 5”, a smaller variant built for close quarters battle scenarios including urban and indoor settings. We’re proud to be the only manufacturer to have placed top three in both Gauntlet II mission sets, and are already fulfilling this next tranche of orders. Onward to Gauntlet III.

Replying to @IanRountree
@IanRountree is a truly generational investor and a close friend. Couldn’t be happier to have him joining our board
There's a subset of the @cantos portfolio we call "inconvenient truths". Rather than turn a blind eye we look to partner with founders running toward these problems. One of the most alarming is how unprepared we are for biothreats, evolved or engineered. Jake has shown incredible agency and a tireless urgency on this front. We led @pilgrimlabs' pre-seed and more than doubled down in this round alongside @joshbuckley and some superstar angel investors to help meet this critical need. I'm proud to be joining Jake's BoD as well.

Building a bio-shield for humanity by ~2030 is one of the great quests (to use @_sholtodouglas' term) of our time. It's one of the biggest, most exciting technological challenges ever This is why I'm excited about @pilgrimlabs
1/ Biological threats can bring a country to a halt without a single shot being fired. Yet much of our biodefense infrastructure has barely changed in decades, even as America’s institutions produce extraordinary scientific breakthroughs.
