VectorWare is the most ambitious GPU project that I know of - this is how we will cross the performance frontier and overcome the GPU limitations of today.

You can tell it is AI because I would never use white bread. At least 50% whole wheat, and always homemade sourdough for me.

DHH says AI writing all the code means Rust is everywhere. If so, Rust needs its Rails. @carllerche, who built @tokio_rs, is building it, and Toasty, its ORM, now fully supports @tursodatabase. (image begrudgingly approved by my marketing team 💯) Post 👇

Would I rather a) review PRs or b) write a blog post announcing the TokioConf CFP is open? 🤔

c) neither and just post on X.

On a more serious note: splitting up "crate" from "build unit" would do so much to help with Rust build times.

The Rust web framework Topcoat now has client side navigation and prefetching. Try it out: github.com/tokio-rs/topcoat/…

I've done a lot of experimentation around it. I have a fork of the toolchain that is ~33% faster when replaying development sessions (so like, ~33% faster across real commands) and uses ~40-60% less disk space. But even that, I'm not sure is enough.

Are they no longer accepting PRs because they are flooded by AI-generated PRs or because it is easier to generate a PR themselves? I actually suspect more OSS projects will stop accepting PRs, but because it is easier to just AI generate it yourself.

Due to AI-generated pull requests, we’re no longer accepting external PRs. We’re sorry for the change and appreciate your understanding.

And if you are wondering if AI wrote the text. I'm sorry to say, I came up with "The Async Rust sync-up in Portland." myself. You are stuck with terrible human written copy.

So far, OpenAI's Dot is delivering at the same level as the demo. I guess I will try it again in a month.

The code really is hilariously hideous. But again, I don't intend to spend any time writing it or reading it. It's a prompt compilation target. So who cares.
