I'm in Birmingham today for SEC Basketball Media Days and in case you haven't heard, Will Wade and LSU are unable to make it due to fog at the airport.

For what it's worth, the SEC has already shown flexibility with its media day schedule this week. Missouri was supposed to go Wednesday and yesterday, was re-scheduled for today.

A Braves base hit would feel like a miracle from God about now. Watching them hit is just infield ground balls on loop. Also, do the Dodgers have anyone who doesn’t throw at least 98?

We do it each week, MY Sunday SEC takeaways... ALABAMA: Nice win. Impressive comeback. QB accurate when clean. Decisions can still be cleaned up in pocket & with runs. Had some really nice balls. Good on the move. WRs made some tougher grabs. Pullers missed some run game. 4 ran hard, found extra yards, loved the belly! 81 helped in run & pass game. 3 had a big game, like how they move him. 40 added physicality! Started slow then cranked it up on def. Got great rush from 1 & 9 as game went on. Able to win with 4 man rush later. Took the ball away. Had issues in coverage. Struggled covering middle of the field. Needed help on 0. Gotta. Have 3rd down stops. Ability to come out of the delay & battle was impressive.

I reread this every year. I cry like a baby every year. Todd Beamer died a father, husband, and hero. Todd: Hello… Operator… listen to me. I can’t speak very loud. This is an emergency. I’m a passenger on a United flight to San Francisco. Our plane has been hijacked. Lisa: I understand. Can they see you? Todd: No. There are three that we know of. They have knives — razor knives, like box cutters. Someone announced from the cockpit there was a bomb. It sounded fake. Lisa: Your name?Todd: Todd Beamer. United Flight 93.Todd: They killed one passenger in first class. They forced most of us back. Fourteen of us here. Five flight attendants. The guy with the bomb ordered us to sit on the floor. Lisa: Are you okay? Todd: We’re going down… wait. No. We’re leveling off. We changed directions. We’re flying east again. Todd: A guy named Jeremy called his wife. She told him two planes hit the World Trade Center. Lisa, is that true? Lisa: I have to tell you the truth. It’s very bad. Both towers are gone. A third plane hit the Pentagon. Our country is under attack. I’m afraid your plane may be part of their plan. Todd: Oh God. Lisa, will you do something for me? Call my wife and my kids. Promise me you’ll call. Lisa: I promise. Todd: Our home number is… You have the same name as my wife. Lisa. We’ve been married ten years. She’s pregnant with our third child. Tell her I love her. I’ll always love her. We have two boys — David, he’s 3, and Andrew, he’s 1. Tell them their daddy loves them and he is so proud of them. The baby is due January 12th. I saw an ultrasound. We still don’t know if it’s a girl or a boy. Lisa: I’ll tell them. I promise, Todd.(Lisa patches in the FBI.) Agent: Todd, your plane is on a course for Washington. Best guess is the White House or the Capitol. Todd: I understand. I’ll be back. Todd: Everyone knows this isn’t a normal hijacking. We have decided we will not be pawns in their plot. Lisa: What are you going to do? Todd: Four of us are going to rush the one with the bomb. Then the cockpit. A stewardess is getting boiling water. We’ll take them out. Todd: Would you pray with me?They pray the Lord’s Prayer. Then: Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for thou art with me. Todd: God help me. Jesus help me.Are you guys ready? Let’s Roll.

Matt makes a great point here.
Re: Sorsby The university presidents have always had the power to put an end to the lawsuits, but they’re hypocrites and cowards. When schools agree to be a part of the NCAA, they agree to abide by their rules. Now, if an athlete doesn’t get a favorable ruling, they sue. If presidents would say, “No, you’re ineligible and can’t play,” this is over. But they need athletics to win and make money, so they sit quietly on the sidelines. Instead of going to court and Congress, how about the women and men hired to lead their universities do just that?

Whether you think Wright and Harris are being done a morally evil and disgraceful injustice is irrelevant. Whether you think Lane is the spawn of satan for trying to bring them back is irrelevant. It's not really about that anymore. It's about whether a federal judge gives the SEC power to enforce its rules. If it happens, a massive precedent has been established in this new era of college sports.
Replying to @DavidWCobb
Assessing whether the sandbagging of an entire class of players across all sports can legally be done? The NCAA and SEC are all about power and not the players.

SEC Shorts was always going to win the week!
Replying to @SECShorts @renasant
SEC Shorts was ahead of the news cycle, because somehow the intervention led to talks of expelling LSU. That escalated quickly!

This is perfectly said.
Being a member of a conference is a lot like being a member of a country club You’re invited to join. You agree to the bylaws. You get the benefits & prestige that come with membership You get a voice in how the club operates. But you don’t get to accept all the benefits & then decide the rules no longer apply to you. If you don’t like the rules, work with the other members to change them. Or leave. And if you dont follow them, don’t be surprised if the club shows you the door.

NEWS: The NCAA Rules Subcommittee has approved the usage of ABS, sources tell @BaseballAmerica. It can be used in any game where the tech is available (includes Trackman). This still requires Baseball Oversight Committee approval but is expected to be implemented in 2027.
